Hotel de Charme seems appropriated at the first look. It’s a charming little hotel with a lovely tiny lobby once you have passed the romantic blooming entrance. And for a Parisian hotel the staff is quite lovely too. But the fairytale stops there.... When awarded a room, you have to squeeze in their shabby tiny elevator and/or climb noisy wooden stairs to squeeze into your shoebox room. The decoration is tappe à l’oeuil (canopy, vivid colours…) but the underneath is not really clean and worn out. Beddings are horrible old and saggy. The bathroom is poorly renovated and mine was dirty with only one cheap little piece of soap. Impossible to get into the room without dragging your bags behind you or shoving them first in. Furthermore I really don’t imagine how a person sized 14plus will made it through the tiny corridor leading to the bed (No offence, I’m a tall 12-14 and I had already my trouble). Don’t bring more than you negligee as their “wardrobe” is a small alcove. And don’t go shopping, there’s no room for extra bags. Well then there’s what makes about 60 % of your room: your tiny bed. Mine stood one side against the wall, leaving you as little as approx. 60 cm to the other side. The nightstand is a tablet fixed on the wall above your bed, watch your head! Once you’re installed in your un-cozy bed, you’ll have the pleasure the hear something rumble every 10 minutes or so… I must be the tube ore something, but in any case it’s annoying. And in the morning you’ll go the lovely yet tiny and oppressing cellar (all stone like a wine cellar) to take your tasty breakfast, but: as everything is so small you won’t have much choice at all. At least they have chouquettes, the tiny French pastry ball :)
So if you're petite or a dwarf... go for it. I mean I have seen worse especially in Paris. But for the rate they charge you'll find someting better, definitely!
This small hotel is conveniently located near ESMA (5 minutes walk) but I would recommend you to chose another stay! We got the preferential rate (160 EUR!) and it’s not worth it, and my office refrains from booking this hotel anymore.
