Our family (2 adults+3 teenage kids) travelled through north and central France during the summer and stayed in Paris at this apartment-hotel for 3 nights. When we first checked in, we were delighted at the ample space -- separate bedrooms, spacious sitting room, and a well-equipped kitchen which we often used. The interior layout is very home-like : very clean and bright bedding and curtains, big wardrobes and a small table for meals. The kitchen has ample cupboards for groceries and a medium sized fridge which we stocked up from nearby supermarkets. The apartment has no air-conditioning but there is a wide window that opens out to the side-lane to let in cool breezes.
When night fell, however, our nightmare began! The hotel complex is situated inside a side-lane which is supposed to be an exclusive alley in the neighbourhood. It is short, narrow and closed at both ends; the opposite side is a kindergarten which would be closed by late afternoons. Then...starting from around 10 p.m., youngsters (gangsters?)appeared : singing, dancing, shouting and joy-riding on motor-bikes! They just rumbled to and fro in the lane coz it was closed-ended and absolutely no cars would enter. Even if we closed the window, the noise was penetrating coz the mob was like 5-20 metres from the hotel. The gang was amazingly punctual and they appeared EVERY NIGHT and partied till well after 2a.m.! We complained to the management but there was nothing they could do. We had thought about moving out, but the hotel had made us pay the whole length of our stay at check-in and of course they would not refund. Very frustrating and disappointing!!
The location of the hotel, although close to a metro station and grocery stores, was actually quite difficult to find. We had got the information from a hotel search web-site, but we did not expect it to be so "hidden" inside a labyrinth of alleys. Even passers-by (who turned out to be neighbours) did not know the hotel!
Moreover, the entrance of the paid hotel carpark was extremely narrow and low. We had rented a mini-van and could barely squeeze through the "hole". I couldn't understand why a hotel carpark in Paris could have such a pathetic hole for an entrance. Even an over-populated city like Hong Kong has much grander carpark entrances in residential areas.
So we had 3 sleepless nights at this accomodation. We had paid 463 Euros for 3 nights(breakfast NOT included).
Very disappointing! Definitely NOT stay there again!
