We recently stayed here. Bedrooms are compact but adequate. We didn't spend much time in our room anyway, too busy sight seeing! Very clean, rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels every day even though not always necessary. Shower cubicle adequate...but again a little cramped..don't drop your soap! Hairdryer very effecient...unlike some places we have stayed.
Staff very friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast was continental (14 euros extra per day for 2 people). There was a good variety available, dried fruits, fresh fruit, fruit juices, yogurts, cereals, eggs to boil, breads, croissants, pancakes and syrup, tea, coffee etc.
However, if you came down a litle later (but still well within the given time slots) the choice was more limited and although this wasn't really too much of a problem for us we did witness others asking for replenishment and being told there was no more. How can you run out of eggs, croissants and french bread?
We were on 5th floor (there is a lift) at the front of hotel...hustle and bustle of Paris during the day but the quadrupled glazed doors to the small balcony was very effective at blocking the sounds if you were to find this distracting. Personally I love that bustle but everyone is different.
Location of the hotel brilliant, turn right out of hotel walk approx 40 -50 paces or so to the crossroads and the metro is there (Vavin not Raspail as this is a liitle further in other direction)
Lots of shops, brasseries, bars and restaurants, within walking distance (although they all seem to be Paris prices!!). Galleries Lafayette (this is not the one near opera)... within 5 blocks (15min) stroll. All main tourist spots within easy reach some within walking distance if you like walking but within easy metro/bus reach too if not.
An absolute must is the Tour Montparnasse 56 which is just behind Galeries Lafayette on Rue de depart. Can't miss it...tallest building around...An amazing 360 degree view from the terrace at the top. Well worth 11.50 euros for the lift! Children under 7 go free!
