“A very nice hotel, great location, very friendly & helpful staff”

We stayed at Mercure Raspail in Paris for 5 nights in July and enjoyed the hotel very much. I came with my 2 kids, so It was very important to me that the location of the hotel would be pleasant and safe, that the hotel would be comfortable and clean, and that we would feel safe in the big city... I can honestly say that this hotel answered all my expectations and even more. The staff was very helpful, warm and friendly, gave advice and assistance whenever we asked. The rooms are quite small, but then we had 3 beds in it so it's understandable, the rooms are very clean and pleasant. Although the hotel is situated on a main boulevard, the rooms are quiet due to the double coated windows. Breakfast is basic in a nice small dining room.
I will certainly return to this hotel, I warmly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you are 3 people, reserve one of the bigger rooms.

“Simple but pleasant. Recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

The rooms was quite small but served its purpose, clean & not noisy. Staff were friendly enough considering we were in Paris & the breakfast was decent, although a little pricy considering it was pretty simple. All in all nothing special but nothing to be disappointed about as the price was reasonable & the location very good as the metro is very close & the local restaurants much better quality than the more touristy areas. Would recommended for the price in comparison to other options in the city.

“Great location, normal Paris-standard hotel”

The best thing about this hotel is location: right on the corner of Raspail X Montparnasse, which allows you to great conection to metro, tourist atractions by foot (Jd Luxembourg for example) and very good restaurants. Rooms are small - I expected a little more space for a Mercure (even in Paris), but it´s quite like a Ibis room size in Brazil. Anyway, it´s a good choice and I´d certainly recommend this hotel to my friends.

“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

The hotel is very clean, the breakfast was very reasonable, the stuff helped whenever I asked something. Although the room we stayed in was very small with no safe and refrigerator. I had a laptop that I want to deposit in the reception safe but I've been told that the safe is small for it (a regular Laptop).
The hotel is located in Montparnase very close to Vavin Metro station and it is comfortable.

“Good location, clean and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

We recently stayed here. Bedrooms are compact but adequate. We didn't spend much time in our room anyway, too busy sight seeing! Very clean, rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels every day even though not always necessary. Shower cubicle adequate...but again a little cramped..don't drop your soap! Hairdryer very effecient...unlike some places we have stayed.
Staff very friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast was continental (14 euros extra per day for 2 people). There was a good variety available, dried fruits, fresh fruit, fruit juices, yogurts, cereals, eggs to boil, breads, croissants, pancakes and syrup, tea, coffee etc.
However, if you came down a litle later (but still well within the given time slots) the choice was more limited and although this wasn't really too much of a problem for us we did witness others asking for replenishment and being told there was no more. How can you run out of eggs, croissants and french bread?
We were on 5th floor (there is a lift) at the front of hotel...hustle and bustle of Paris during the day but the quadrupled glazed doors to the small balcony was very effective at blocking the sounds if you were to find this distracting. Personally I love that bustle but everyone is different.
Location of the hotel brilliant, turn right out of hotel walk approx 40 -50 paces or so to the crossroads and the metro is there (Vavin not Raspail as this is a liitle further in other direction)
Lots of shops, brasseries, bars and restaurants, within walking distance (although they all seem to be Paris prices!!). Galleries Lafayette (this is not the one near opera)... within 5 blocks (15min) stroll. All main tourist spots within easy reach some within walking distance if you like walking but within easy metro/bus reach too if not.
An absolute must is the Tour Montparnasse 56 which is just behind Galeries Lafayette on Rue de depart. Can't miss it...tallest building around...An amazing 360 degree view from the terrace at the top. Well worth 11.50 euros for the lift! Children under 7 go free!
