My friend and I have just returned from our second visit to Paris; our first to the Montparnasse area. I booked this hotel due to the price, as well as the location reviews and was pleasantly surprised. For a 2 star hotel it ticked all the boxes for us. We booked a twin-bedded room which was of decent size with a spotless new bathroom and good shower. The room also had a Juliette balcony overlooking the square, which was a typical Parisien tree lined area and on certain days had a market. Because of this location we were able to soak up the atmosphere, even from the room and to complete it all, the weather was beautiful for October! Okay some of the staff were a little unsociable, but that didn't bother us as we were there to enjoy ourselves not to socialise with them, so this was not an issue. The bar/cafe underneath the hotel, (beneath our room) was an added bonus, especially when returning back at night, when we would call in for a late drink. So convenient!. Also, despite the busy street location, we managed to sleep well.

On the whole we were very pleased with the Odessa and would certainly return again in the future. If you're looking for a low priced hotel, in a good non-tourist area, with plenty of authentic Parisien restaurants, shops, easy access to the Air France airport shuttle bus stop, underground metro, with a great atmosphere etc; then this is the one. Just don't expect too many extras and enjoy!

Room was small but clean pretty, comfortable enough to stay. The room is facing a street and can see the pretty Paris street through the window. Elevator is tiny, so you might need to wait few minutes to go up and down for each time. There are many cafe and restaurants nearby, so you don't need to worry about finding places to eat. Only 5mins walk to Montparnasse Airport bus station and also very close to Subway station.

I stayed at the Odessa in early June, 2010. First, I LOVEd using the Metro (underground train), it was very easy to navigate & my friends and I used it daily. The Metro can easily be used to connect the Odessa and pretty much all major touristy locations. (given a few blocks walk here and there too). Don't take taxis, use the Metro = cheap and easy.

When asked if I would stay at the Odessa again, the answer is: No, probably not. While the room had a great corner view of the streets & was fairly clean + there was free use of the hotel PC w/internet, the room was small, the bathroom was tiny & the air conditioning was a standing fan. No perks at all. I need perks.. : )

There are a few decent cafes in this area, very nice, clean, few kebap places, lots of asian and crepe places. I'd still stay elsewhere for the value.

Paris is beautiful, the food is amazing & you can get lost it the sights. MUST GO!

My family and I stayed at the Hotel Odessa Montparnasse for three nights in mid August 2010. The best quality of the Hotel is its location, and by far the worst is the staff. The two male concierges are unfriendly at best and down right rude to the guests at worse. They are not helpful and would not make any attempt to assist us in making restaurant reservations, finding addresses or anything else for that matter. Think about it: a hotel concierge in Paris who does not know where Musee d'Orsay is and has never heard of it! The hotel was fairly clean and the cleaning lady was nice, however, there are better experiences to have in Paris.
