We stayed in this hotel for two days on a mixed purpose trip, partially we were visiting Paris, but on the other hand I was also visiting a professor at the ENS (rue d'Ulm).
The lobby and breakfast rooms are very nice and clearly recently renovated. The rooms (and corridors) are a bit more outdated, apart from the bathroom which was also very modern. Anyway, we were upgraded to a triple room (at the price of a double room), so we did't have the problem of small rooms other reviewers mention. Anyway, since you're probably in Paris for visiting it, I don't see why you really need a very big room. If you need so, I advise booking a fancier (and more expensive) hotel. The staff in the hotel was always very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is quite close to the metro, although not right next to it. The walk from/to the metro is quite nice, along some nice restaurants, ... I strongly advise eating in the neighbourhood of the hotel as the restaurants aren't aiming for tourists, but local people. Service and food is much better. The restaurants open however at 7-7:30pm in the evening (and possibly also for lunch).
Overall, I think this is a good hotel (in a nice area of Paris) and if they invest some money into renovating the rooms, this might become a very lovely hotel. If you insist to have a luxurious hotel, I'd susgest to take another hotel, but if you are looking for a decent place to stay, I would certainly advise this hotel.
