“Lovely hotel! Great location!”

I stayed in the Best Western Astra Opera during a whirlwind tour of Paris. The location was convenient – close to the Opera and Havre-Caumartin Metro stops. It is also a short walk to Galeries Lafayette.

The décor was nice and tasteful. While the room was small, it was exactly what we expected from the pictures on the Best Western website. I was impressed with how they maximized the space by having our twin-sized beds side-by-side.

In terms of amenities, there was no complementary breakfast, as you might expect in many American hotels. That said, in the general vicinity there were breakfast options and a Starbucks.

The staff were polite and helpful. They were also kind in indulging me as I attempted to communicate with them with my poor French skills.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and would stay there on a future trip.

“Nice Enough Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

I stayed at this hotel, but sadly not by choice. I had booked into Hotel Joyce (luxe recommended) and was moved to this hotel as Hotel Joyce was fully booked! This hotel, was nice, clean, beds comfy, didn't rise in time for breakfast, but a nice enough business hotel. It was a good location with lots of shops nearby. I have no complaints at all, but would probably choose something a little more quirky on my next visit.

“Good central hotel, clean and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

One out of many good hotels in the opera area close to large stores and theaters. Higher end hotel in this segment with clean rooms and good service. Breakfast could offer a larger choice but food is OK.

Room Tip: Try to have a room on the topfloor, it offers a wonderful view on the Paris roofs with most monument...

“If you have high hotel standards and want to save money stay here.”

This is a nice clean hotel in Paris. One of the best places to stay location wise because 1. close to the train station 2. close to major restaurants and if you really want to save there's a grocery store down the block. 3. close to the Paris Opera which is good because two out of the three free walking tours of Paris ( which were excellent by the way!) met at steps of the Paris Opera as of Sept. 2010. 4. if there's a strike (train) you can still enjoy Paris lots of shopping in walking distance and its a doable walking distance ( very long walk be in good shape) from major attractions.

“It was ok...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

We had booked the Opera Hotel 3* which is next door with Hotels4U but upon our arrival we were informed that they had received the booking so late (we booked five months earlier) that it was fully booked so we were moved to Astra next door which is supposed to be a 4*. We were on the top floor in a small room partially with a slanted roof, but it was clean and the reception people were very friendly. The breakfast was very nice but there was no bar open nor any atmosphere - it was really a dead place. The bathtub was too small to lie in so really useless. We were only there for two nights and given the price we paid I think we can be fairly happy...it was clean but boring.

Room Tip: 7th floor has a partially slanted roof - so would recommend other floors.
