“If you want to get robbed by the staff, stay here”

My girlfriend and her sister stayed here, and encountered a nightmare. The rooms were tiny and dirty, the staff rude and unfriendly, but this is to be expected for a hotel in Paris. When they stepped out of the hotel for 3 hours and came back, they found that $3500 USD had been stolen from their room. There was no sign of tampering with the lock, and they left most of my girlfriend's credit cards there, only taking her debit card. What was interesting is that she gave the hotel information about this card when she reserved the hotel, along with other personal information - with this information, the thief was able to extract $1500 from her card. Only someone with a key and with access to the hotel's database and files could have done this. So it is clear that at least one member of the hotel staff is involved in criminal activity against the guests.

When they brought this issue up with the hotel staff, they were extremely rude. When my girlfriend showed them the police report and mentioned that she would report them online, the man at the front desk shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't care". They still had to pay, he said. When she said that this was all they had, he told them to leave the hotel. He didn't even bother expressing concern over the incident or apologizing for the hotel's poor security - assuming he himself was not involved. I urge anyone wanting to stay in Paris to avoid this hotel and its criminal employees.

“Great Value, Location and friendly helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

We stayed in Paris for 6 days. The main reason for our stay was to see all the sites around the city. This hotel is situated within walking distance of the Palais Royal, Louvre, and many other sites. Also in front of the Louvre you can catch the "open bus" which you can purchase up to 3 days of rides. This is a city tour bus which is double decker, and open second deck. You can hop on and off up to 50 different stops and visit the sites and hop back on all day. Around the corner from the Louvre is a great shopping area and full of restaurants, cafes and pastry shops. The hotel is not luxurious but comfortable and great to take in the local flavor of the city. Our room was cleaned every day and the staff was very friendly and volunteered information about the city to make make our stay easier. Overall our stay in Paris is just wonderful!

“Great location, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

7 floors, 46 rooms. Air conditioning (a rare find) and FREE wifi. Friendly English speaking staff. Location is withing walking distance of most major Paris attractions (Louvre, Left Bank, Notre Dame, Effiel Tower is about 2 miles). The rooms are small, but functional. If you are just looking for a clean, convenient, inexpensive place to sleep in Paris, this is a great choice.

“BED BUGS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I checked tripadvisor before I booked this trip and am now in a state of shock as there was no mention of the bed bugs! I returned from our stay with an excess of 300 bites all over my legs, back, arms and face. Any part of me that was not covered with pyjamas had been attacked. When I told the reception staff they said that they would have the room checked and when we returned to the room our bedding had changed. The next night I had more bites and showed the receptionist and they did the same again. As we were checking out we did not hear further. When we collected our bags later another lady was complaining of the same issue and she was 2 floors up from us! We saw 3 bugs in the room and as we did not know what they looked like or suspected bed bugs we ignored them. Now I have checked online they were definitely bed bugs. I have now been home 6 days and some still itch and I will not be surprised if there is scarring.

The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and the location was perfect but the unwanted souvenir definitely has ruined the whole experience. We are now worried that we could have brought the little pests home and are having to have the house treated so with the treatment of the house and the prescription costs we are looking at an extra £150 on top of our stay...not ideal!

“Decent Location to Louvre, but small rooms!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2010

We chose this Hotel because of it's price and proximity to the Louvre (a 15+ minute walk through the lovely Palais Royal grounds), which we were going to visit a few days in a row. The staff was friendly and helpful with directions and advice on sightseeing in the city. It's in a nice area, right next to the Galerie Vivienne (boutique shopping), cafés and a Bibliothèque across the street. There is a breakfast room downstairs, serving a continental breakfast for an additional charge.

The downside was the size of the room and the size of the bathroom, both VERY SMALL (and we are small people!) Granted it's a small building, but I could not lay my mid-sized suitcase open unless it was in the corner of the room, and then we had to jump over it. The shower in the bathroom was so small we had to turn around to make sure our elbows were inside before closing the glass doors. But the balcony window was charming and helped to "open" the room a little.

Also we did not have a refrigerator, so it was hard to buy lots of food at the markets and keep them chilled.

Overall it was a pleasant stay, and, if you are willing to overlook the size of the rooms, a charming location.
