My friend and I were on a short europe tour. Paris was our 4th stop after Venice. We took an overnight train from Venice and to wake up early morning in Paris was really tiring. From the train station, we were suppose to take an undergound train into the city but unfortunately we were somehow lost. As we were looking for the right direction, my friend's jacket somehow got dirty by something like a chocholate drink, on the back. I was walking behind her all the time, while she was leading the way and I didn't notice how can the stain got there. As we were trying to clean it a man approach and "helped" us cleaning it. unfortunately, the whole thing was actually a scam. He and his friend purposely spill the drink (which i still dont remember how can it happened) and pretend to help us after that and at the mean time, he take what ever he can. My friend's passport, money, credit cards, ID and atm card have been stolen. We went straight to the Malaysian embassy but unfortunately it was close (Sunday) and will be close for the next 2 days (Chinese New Year). We've tried to call the emergency number but no
answer. We've decided to check in into our hotel first, and think of what to do next from there. We were so lucky when Baptize (I hope I spell your name correctly), the front desk staff was so helpful regarding our situation. He was the one who adviced us to go the police station (he even helped us to locate the nearest police station), call up the police station to ask if any of the police officer could speak english, call up the Malaysian embassy and even became our translater. As expected none of the police officer could speak english and Baptize has warned us, if that happened, just call him up at the hotel and he'll help us to translate. That is very smart and nice of Baptize to do that for us.
Our room was'nt ready when we reached the hotel but we were allowed to leave our lugagge in the lugagge room. We didn't mind as we were early and after what Baptize has done for us, how could we make a fuss about it? With Baptize help, my friend was able to get the passport ready the day we made the temporary passport itself.
Brief on the hotel, it is made up of few lots of shops row. Very near to the underground station. Literally across the street. Lots of places to eat within the area. They even have Mc'Donalds down the block. Notre Dame is within walking distance. It took us about 10 minutes walk. It is nice to walk in Paris. The room itself was ok. Spacious enough. The bathroom was clean. They have all the necessary, towel and soap. They do have computers with internet connection in the lobby area but it was quite expensive.
The breakfast was normal cold breakfast. They do have a coffee/chocholate/latte/mocha machine.
From the hotel hospitality we've experienced, I would recomend anyone to stay here. It makes all the difference in a hotel. Again...Baptize, if you are reading this, we would like to thank you. We know we've said it, but we feel we should mentioned it here, so that anyone who is reading, would know, the
experience we've gone through with your help. Thank you.
