“A no problem Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My husband and I chose this hotel mainly swayed by the good reports on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed, having taken probably the most tortuous route to Rue Richer we were very pleased with the warm and helpful welcome. Our room was on the 6th floor and was as described in the hotel literature, it is clean, comfortable and spacious for a city centre hotel. However, my husband (doing a fair impression of an Englishman abroad) could not get the safe to work. I telephoned reception who sent an engineer up immediately, he had several attempts to sort the problem out and failed. Reception said "Not a problem pack your suitcases tomorrow morning and we will transfer you to another room". As we had not really unpacked this proved quick and easy. Next day, when we returned our new room was on the 3rd floor and was an even larger room. Nothing seemed a problem to the hotel staff, I would recommend it highly. The hotel is situated just along from the Folies Bergers, a wonderful 1920s building, sadly in need of a bit of TLC but still quite an experience to see. So you don't make such heavy weather in getting to the hotel, all metro stations are named by the Tete de station (head) and then the stops along the way are given as in the London underground to get to Aida take the line Balard - Creteil line and get off at Grands Boulevards walk as if going to the big BNP bank, at the bank turn right and then left the hotel is at the end of the road.

Room Tip: The two rooms we had were of equal comfort so I assume they are all similar

“Great location and very quite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Had a room on the top floor, very spacious. Very modern bathroom and very clean. Staff helpful.
Super location - 12 minutes walk from Gare du Nord, Eurostar and CDG RER line. 15-20 minutes to Opera Garnier and Galleries Lafayette. Everywhere is very walkable from here.
DIdn't have breakfast at the hotel, but many cafe's close by. For Starbucks fans there is one about 5 minutes away on Bd Poissonniere.

Room Tip: Top floor corner room is very spacious for central Paris. Sorry, cannot remember the number.

“Cosy but nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, the first was when it was a Best Western, this time it wasn't. The first time it was fantastic - we got a corner room and it was huge! This time we got a normal room as we were only staying for two nights. Small rooms but reasonable by English and European standards (You could walk around the bed unlike in some places we stayed in!) The first one we got the air conditioning didn't work (we're from a cold climate and need cooling!) after a trip down to reception and some attempted maintenance they offered to move our room. This one had no street view as it was into the central courtyard but that's ok.
We found the 10 minute walk to the Gare du Nord really useful to not have to fight with extra trains or French taxi drivers and it's only about 5 minutes in either direction for more metro stations. Within a couple of minutes walk there is a laundromat, lots of patiseries, creperie, restaurants and a pharmacy. 5 minutes out and there are major roads with everything else you might want including supermarkets.
There seem to be a few negative comments about this hotel which I don't really understand. It's not at all a long walk to the metro - unless 5 minutes walking in Paris is long for you - if so don't bother going cause you'll never see any of the sights except from a bus! The rooms aren't spacious but we definitely found a lot that were smaller in London, Birmingham, Amsterdam and Rome. There seems to be a queen bed, desk, chair, bedside cabinets and small wardrobes in every room with just enough space to open two suitcases - while being able to walk from one side of the bed around the the other. You are in Paris to NOT be in your room anyway :)

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor street view room for the view or preferably a corner room - they are huge!

“The worst hotel in Paris”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

I don't know where to start!!
I staid in many hotels in Paris and I really don't know what all below reviews are about. The horrible service, the horrible rooms... Thanks they had hot water and clean bed linen. Let me just start from beginning. We arrived early morning at 8am. Check-in at 3pm, check-out at 11am. When we came there was no room availability. OK, that's fine, we walked around some time and when we returned around 2pm they still didn't have any room. No words at all! After 30 minutes when I came to receptionist and asked her - how long do you need to clean -up just ONE room for us? She said - you will get your room may be in 1 hour.....LOL....We were only one couple at this time...What kind of service is this??? After our final check in we discovered: very old room, cheap veneer furniture from 50s, no carpet, just 2 big towels, no Internet of course, no heat (end of October, 8C/46F outside) and etc and etc....We asked them to bring any hitter asap, they did it, but it was so old and get stinky air instead of heating.....Oh, I could write a lot about this hotel, but prefer to forget this place and remember a good time we had in Paris as always. BUT BE WARE FROM THIS TERRIBLE HOTEL!!!! I swear God I had spent more money for another little cosy hotel if I would know about the service and rooms in that Aida Opera...Shame on Best Western chain that bought this hotel and add NOTHING to make it better! Why did we chose this hotel: our decision was based on location -1st which was not so bad and REVIEWS - 2d. People, be realistic, it's not what you should expect from basic Paris hotel!!!
