“It's ok...”

The rooms are basic - including no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. 2 English speaking channels on tv. It's an ok location. It's good during the day where there is lots to do in the area but at night if you don't want a typical (terrible) tourist meal, it's hard to find somewhere decent that's not overly expensive. Not many authentic French restaurants around. Metro is close, it's easy to get around. We didn't choose to stay here and I think you could get better value for money elsewhere, especially in winter which is when we travelled.

“Great Location, Low Price and Great quality rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I arrived on the Eurostar and transferred to the Metro, getting off at Censier Daubenton and found it was only five minutes walk to the hotel. The staff were very nice, spoke english and checked in no issues.

The room was perfect for once person, mirrored robe, plasma tv, desk, queen bed, window, heating, large bathroom with bath and hairdryer. They provide toiletries and update them daily. No fridge in the room which was one downside as there were some nights I wanted to sit in with some cheese and wine.

The location is great for those who want to experience the real Paris without as many tourists of Gypsies. Just walk across the road to the Rue Mouffetard and you can buy the best food and wine up this cliche Parisien street. There is a Bistro in front of the fountain about 2 min walk from the hotel (Cave le Bourgone), it is one of the best. Nice staff, amazing food and not too expensive. Mostly locals in the cafe too.

There are a few Laundromats nearby also, Only cost me 6 euro to do about 8 days worth of clothes.

There is a Velib station out front too, which I highly reccomend. You can use the bike hire service if you swipe your credit card. It's 150 Euro deposit, 8 euro for 7 nights. You get the bike for free if you use it under 30 minutes and it's 1 euro for every half hour after that. I use to just pack up Croissants and ride down to Notre Dame and walk from there each day. I make it down there in about 10 minutes. Check out their website for more information.

I had no issues and would definately come back to the hotel, I booked through their website, no dramas.

The Free Wifi was great, strong connection allowed me to download movies on itunes (iphone) if I felt like night in.

Room Tip: Street side would obviously be much nicer.

“Good size room”

stayed at this hotel in November 2011. There were 2 of us in a superior double. There was plenty of space in this room to put our things, and a safe in the closet for passport, etc, while we were out sightseeing. had a room overlooking the street, never got loud. the front desk staff was nice. the breakfast in the morning was pretty simple french breakfast of deli meats, cheeses, egg, toasts. I don't know if it would be worth the 15 euros a day it costs, but we got included in our room cost, so we ate it.

“Boutique, convenient and affordable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

The Cardinal hotel is conveniently located to 2 metro stops and in an interesting neighbourhood with fresh food market one block away and boulangerie and other shops nearby. The reception staff are extremely helpful and courteous, all spoke English, and my single room while not large was more than adequate and newly refurbished with a gorgeous bathroom. The included breakfast was basic for a day touring and the Anvil restaurant a few doors away, although not cheap, offers authentic French cuisine without needing to travel into the city. The tariff was affordable especially for a solo traveller. If you want somewhere quiet away from the crowds but accessible to all attractions via the metro this is the place for you.

“Antonia and Dorothy”

My adult daughter and I stayed at the Cardinal Rive Gauche in early October and recommend this to travelers wholeheartedly and without reservation. The hotel is conveniently located in a colorful neighborhood close to several notable sites, e.g., Rue Mouffetard, Pantheon, Jardin des Plantes. The metro and bus are accessible for longer distances. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and the room was of good size. Although I had booked a standard 2 bed room, we were upgraded because one was not available for our 10 day stay. We were very grateful for that. Everyone at the hotel was courteous, pleasant and helpful. We found both Francois and Ramon, the two front desk managers, to be especially friendly, helpful and good-humored.
The breakfast dining room was attractive and the offerings were more than substantial. It was probably the best I have experienced for European breakfasts. Should we return to Paris, this hotel would definitely be my first choice.
