“An American in Paris.”

I had no idea what to expect of this hotel, as it was my first trip to Paris. I read the reviews and was expecting the worst. Since I do not usually spend any time in the room anyway, I just needed a place to keep my things and shower and catch a few hours sleep. I also wanted something near the Metro. After my trip into the city on the RER B and transfer at Gare du Nore to the 2 Metro, I came out of the exit and found I was right there at the hotel door, almost. Now I will say the neighborhood does have the numerous porno shops and the people that go with that type of business. Other than that, the neighborhood around there is great. Many different options for food and beverage of your choice. I was able to check in as soon as I got there.I arrived on Christmas day, and i was in so quick I had time to run uo teh hill and attend mass on Christmas Day at the Sacre Cour. They had me set up and ready to go in minutes. No problems at all. Everyone spoke English there which was of great help to me. They were also all VERY NICE to me. Unlike some other people's reviews, the staff were great. I should have gotten their names and listed them all on here. If they read this, I would want them to know how much I appreciate their courtesy to me. My room was what I expected, small. It was clean, had good hot water pressure, and comfortable for me. No complaints fro me about the room. I would stay there again without a problem. I really liked the surrounding neighborhoods. I did not try the breakfast, but it seemed basic. There are so many options around the hotel, I did not need to. Why have hotel food when you can get out and eat at some of the local establishments? If anyone reads this and would like to contact me for more feedback feel free. I had a great time there. Thanks to all the great staff. I miss Paris already, after 2 days of being gone.

Room Tip: I would say take a room off the street as it can be noisy on the street into the late hours.

“Not a very pleasant stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Having read the previous reviews about this hotel, I had very mixed feelings about staying here. In the end, the relatively low price was the deciding factor.

The hotel looks like it was built in the 70's and hasn't had anything changed or upgraded in it since then. It badly needs renovation, most walls have stains, scratches and dark smudges on them and the carpets are very worn and densely dotted with mysterious stains.

The staff was quite friendly and helpful. They were quite flexible about allowing me to choose which room I wanted to stay in, and said that if I wasn't happy, it wouldn't be a problem to change. I had a continental breakfast included in my rate, which was acceptable, nothing out of the ordinary.

The hotel location is actually quite good, central, and the Pigalle metro station is very close by. However, it is in the middle of Paris' red-light district, and therefore it gets very noisy in the evenings, especially in the street-facing rooms. There are people out on street at all hours of the night, making a lot of noise. It's not too bad as long as you keep your windows closed, which is ok in the winter, but unimaginable in the summer, as there is no air-conditioning in the rooms. Also, I would not recommend walking around alone late at night as there are a many odd characters hanging around, openly drinking, etc.

My room was tiny and borderline unpleasant. The walls were dirty and scratched, and the carpet worn and very stained. There was a large loop of electric cables exposed and hanging above the door. There was only one electric plug for the whole room. The bathroom was also not in a very good state, basic fixtures, but otherwise reasonably clean. The only positive thing about the room was that the bed looked quite new, as well as the mattress and the sheets. Had it been otherwise, I probably would have left and found another hotel.

There is a Wi-Fi internet connection available, but it's unreliable in the evenings. Unfortunately you get the best reception on street side of hotel, so it's a trade-off between internet and noise.

I would not recommend this hotel. The next time I come to Paris, I will definitely look for another place to stay.

Room Tip: If you don't need good internet access then don't take a street-facing room as there is a lo...

“All it lacks is cleanliness and a little care”

A very handy hotel for getting about in Paris with polite helpful and efficient staff, breakfast was ok.
Our room (no 24) was small and not very clean except for the bed linen, the net curtains were hanging off and the lighting was dingy.....we had the brick wall view. (possibly the same room as Shazza2rs)
As we were only 'in town' for two nights we decided to not 'stress' and use our room the best we could - we both slept well :0)
There is a sex shop on either side of the Hotel entrance which didnt bother us but may if you have children.
The show at the Moulin Rouge was brilliant and well worth every penny........refreshments are very very very expensive eg €8 small beer or juice

“5 night stay - torture”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Well. We came here 7 years ago and we had a lovely stay, no frills but clean and comfortable. However, this time, this month it is a disgusting place now. It is definitely not worth the money I had spent on pre-booking this. The 1st room we were given was a hovel, it was dirty, smelly and run down with holes in the floor under the carpet, couldn't open the window because the 'small' double bed was jammed up to it, with a view of brick walls. We went to complain and said that we would not have that room again and we were reassured that we would have another better room when we returned later that day. They explained that we were the last to book in that day and so this had been the only room we could have! I had pain in full for a DOUBLE room about 3 months earlier! They said they had put is in a double bed because they thought we were a couple - as they explained wth their hands. The new room was a little better but the bedding was not clean, the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor, the lighting was no more than a candle wattage, the alarm and radio did not work. No hairdryer, we had to ask for one and we had 3 pillows between the 2 of us. No kettle, tea and coffee, the net curtain was black with dirt and was greasy as were the bed covers and curtains, the towels smelled of 'fried food'. The breakfasts were an aconomy version and were utterly tasteless wth no decaf coffee. Awful I think it must at least have changed hands, and no one has done any cleaning, certainly since the smoking ban came into force.

Room Tip: there are none here

Timhotel was very convenient to everywhere in Paris. very small room, but hardly ever there. Abel the nice gentleman onthe reception was fabulous. I will mail him personally and thank him for all his advice and help. Everyone else on the desk were not friendly or helpful at all.
Would recommend to stay there tho...for the locality and the price all was good.

Room Tip: Street rooms were very noisy at night.. but it did not worry us. Once balcony doors shut you could n...
