Although St Germain is in the name, it is in the Latin Quarter - on all maps of the city in guidebooks it is just off the map for St Germain. Not that it mattered. You can walk everywhere, there is a metro station right outside (where on some mornings there is an amazing market with cheeses, olives, breads and more!). The staff are friendly, there 24 hours which is handy. The elevator we nicknamed the 'elevator of doom' so on the 4th floor we ended up walking 77 steps to get up to or room or down from our room - but we didn't mind.

The room is small - but what you expect in Paris. Not unbearably small that you can't walk in it. The bathroom was good - the glass on the shower in place of a curtain was a bit too short so we ended up having to be careful not to get water all over the floor. The place was very tidy, looked after well. Only thing was that it was very hot, even over new years in winter, so we often opened up the big windows - which was great apart from in the morning when it smelt like smoke (from the kitchen?). The king/queen bed is 2 twins put together, which is a bit annoying, but we survived. We were out of the room from about 9am to 11pm so it didn't really matter what the room was like - it was a good place to sleep, shower, and a good base for the metro. We ended up walking from Arc de Triumph back to the hotel - it took a while, but we did it without thinking about the distance. It was a good price compared to other hotels within the same price range (based on reviews and our experience). Also the free wifi was great. Despite having to call down to reception to register - why can't they just give you a password I don't know!

We stayed in this hotel over Christmas. It's perfect location made really easy to walk to metro, Notre Dame and Latin quarter. Our room is very small, which is typical in Paris, with newly renovated bathroom. Facing the street and church, it can get quite noisy if you are a light sleeper. The wall is not well sound-proofed so we can hear our neighbor's talking. The staff is 24hrs on reception and very friendly. We also find it very helpful they have free wifi in the entire hotel. Overall I think it's a good hotel.

We stayed here for a week over the Christmas and New Years Holiday. Our room was fantastic (room 55) We had a large wrap aroun balcony with great views of the city, and it was never too loud. We actually slept with the doors open quiet often. The room I felt was more then adequate as far as size goes, I was prepaired for a tiny room from all the reviews, however was greeted by a more then adequate room. NO it was not huge, or comperrable to US rooms, BUT it was not tiny, or uncomfortable.

Only negative review is that we had two beds that were put together, but again I knew this going into it so cant blame the hotel!

The front desk was always more then happy to help. I would reccomened this hotel in an instant to any friends traveling who wanted a clean, nice hotel, near everything.

I had read reviews and fully expected the room to be small. Despite packing very light for our week's stay, making the room livable around our stuff did turn into a nightly game of Tetris. The location is fantastic if you're doing the Parisian tourist thing. Internet service was unreliable - a bit of a problem, since we selected the hotel in part because it had wireless and we weren't in a position to just "leave it all at home" for our vacation. It was fixed, but it was broken two nights in a row. While normally the staff is quite friendly and tolerant of the Americans, I was treated to some famous French rudeness when I was told I'd here in 90 minutes if there WAS a fix (or if I needed a cyber cafe) and I called to inquire three hours later.

If you have a sense of humor even while jet lagged, get a look at the elevator. You'll see what I mean.
