First let me say that this was my 9th trip to Paris. I had always wanted to stay on the beautiful Il St. Louis so for our honeymoon weekend this seemed the perfect time. There are only 4 hotels on the little island. And I thoroughly researched all 4 before choosing Saint-Louis En L'Isle. We booked the "best" room at the hotel and explained it was our honeymoon. If someone had told me it was a busy weekend, I would have gladly booked the day prior to our arrival to ensure easy check-in at 6am!

The hotel was much smaller than expected (and again, I lived in London for 2 years and have traveled extensively thru Europe, I expected small!) The room at the top of the hotel was clean but the beds were not comfortable (*the bathroom was excellent!) Views were exquisite. Really, we were there for the location so this might have all been tolerable if the service had been more agreeable. Again, I don't expect US standards of friendliness, but we clearly stated it was our honeymoon. NOTHING was done to celebrate - or even acknowledge- this occasion. The most troubling part- whenever we asked the kid at the desk (and he was barely 20 ) to call us a taxi, he'd shrug and say, they are not available. We had to argue with to call other car services every single night.

Simply put, there are far better places to stay in Paris. And then you can visit Il Saint Louis.
