We were there during June, 2011. The hotel was undergoing renovation, which will improve the quiet of the rooms. Well known as having unusually large rooms for the price and location. We've stayed here 5 times. If you demand all modern furnishings and appearance, go somewhere else -- you won't be happy here, One stays here for the location, the size of the rooms, the historical nature of the location, the proximity to the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, and the general atmosphere of the neighborhood. The breakfast is also generous.

This hotel has a fantastic location in a quiet street near Rive Gauche in St. Germain des Pres and close to many highlights of Paris. It is old fashioned, but very charming with friendly staff. My room was spacious (well, for Paris hotels) en very quiet.
Ask for the discount when booking a room. They have told me that they will redecorate in the near future.
If you don't mind the 40 year old carpets and furniture, you'll love it.

I liked this hotel. Reasonable price, reasonable room and great location.

The big room w/the little courtyard & little round window from the bath (to the courtyard) - has a ghost.

I loved the feeling of history with this hotel. i wanted to stay somewhere that felt I was staying in Paris, not just another hotel in another big city. I also liked that our room, twin beds, also had a small table and chairs, where I sat by the big open windows writing in my journal, we had a two seater couch, so visitors could join us for a red wine in then evening. the bathroom had twin sinks and a bath (whihc was great after walking Parisian streets for four or five hours). It's an old hotel so don't expect lush furnishings. We went to London and Spain for five days and they held onto our suitcases as we booked a one night return before leaving, meaning we could take overnight bags instead. The two person elevator wasn't to my liking, I climbed the stairs everyday. I'd stay here again, the room was a good size and the windows so Parisian. A fridge meant we stored our cheese and butter and could have snacks of an evening.
