“We disagree with the whiners....”

OMG the whiners who have no comprehension of a great deal have been at work on the reviews below.....we had to move because we extended our stay and both rooms where great.....it has DOZENS of restaurants and shops around, is right at a Metro Station had friendly helpfull staff and is walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and the river....I cant figure out why the whiners dont stay in Airconditioned Luxury Hotels...well the truth is they are cheap whiners....this place was amazing....and we mostly took the stairs as the elevator is a bit slow....resilient experienced travellers only...a gem...!!

“Sacrifice all comfort in exchange for economy and location.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

Having re-read some earlier reviews I cannot imagine why we chose to stay at this hotel. In over 50 years travelling the world it rates as the second worst place (the worst was in Morocco) we have ever stayed. To be fair (as ever) there are some redeeeming qualities(see below) but in general terms it didn't even measure up to the two star rating it claims. To begin with the Rue Lourmel can be very noisy and, with no A/C, opening the window for air was unavoidable and extreme noise inducing. Our room was small and rather scruffy but the bathroom was even smaller than usual and was dreadful. The wall unit designed to retain the shower was broken, so showering was a hand held operation. In the other hand one had to hold the soap because the soap tray had been removed. And the wash line apparatus had also been vandalised. The sink plug was also missing- just as well because the plug release mechanism had also been rendered useless. The matresses on our twin beds were of dubious vintage and one in particular made some strange noises. On our first night we kept awake by neighbours until 0120! They eventually piped down with a little oral persuasion from me. But in complaining to reception staff the next day I was advised "next time" to telephone the front desk. But we had not seen a telephone in the room. It was eventually concluded that someone had stolen it and the staff had not noticed! Apparently a TV set had disappeared in similar circumstances a few days earlier.
But there were positive points. Our bathroom towels were replaced after the first night and the staff on the whole were pleasant enough (although we returned to find the front door locked on our first night out and had to ring the bell and wait at least five minutes to gain access). The location just off the Bvd. Grenelle is great for exploring the 15e arrondissement and visiting the Eiffel Tower and access to the riverboats. The price is also competitive. We paid Euros 80 a night (The Mercure, literally just aroung the corner in Grenelle, has a minimum charge for a double of Euros 220 + 20 for parking.) So if economy is vitally important it's probably worth considering but there are many other similarly priced hotels in the area which offer considerably more comfort.

“Terrible Choice!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

The hotel should not be called a hotel. The conditions are terrible, its dirty, small and has no A/C. I stayed during some of the hottest days in Paris and it was almost impossible to sleep. The only way of getting air into the room is through a window that faces to the street. The main problem with this is that there is noise all through out the night. On my last day I found a roach on my bed. The bathroom needs a lot of maintenance, there was a scary hole under the shower, the shower head was busted and it splashed water all over the bathroom. I believe that for the price you cant ask for much more but still you are better of staying at a hostel. The only good thing is its location, its close to the eiffel tower but with all of the cons that is not even a plus.

“The TERRIBLE experience ever in my life”

I was staying with my husband in this hotel. The room of the hotel was very small with tiny bathroom which was never cleaned. The staff did not know any english which I found it very strange. The location was excellent it was next to the metro station. I found the price of the hotel was very expensive it wasnt worth it for the price. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

“If you like a noisy floor and using a bathroom that is not cleanned for 7 days...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2010

My bathroom was never cleanned. The toilette seat and the shower were damaged.
In my room, the wooden floor under the carpet on my side of the bed made a lot of noise.
My room and its closet were very small.
The hotel had a good location but the service wasn´t anything special.
If you want to go with a large group of students the hotel asks for an advanced payment of a caution because of possible damage.
Excellent museums, many beautiful monuments and interesting activities but there was a lot of garbage in many of the streets and the people aren't very friendly.
