This is a nice and warm Hotel. The rooms are very good sized and very warm.

I spent 3 lovely nights at this hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Even though the place is huge (150 years ago, it was one of the largest department stores in the world), it still has a very French feel to it. The staff was very kind, and I got a lot of extra perks for being a Priority Club member. Free internet in the room would have been nice, but I did manage to get one hour per day of free wireless in the lobby. My rate did not include breakfast, but I am happy to eat outside the hotel anyway. The Republique Metro station is conveniently in front of the hotel, and the Marais district is easy walking distance.
I would definitely stay here again.

This is a pretty dull hotel with surprisingly little visual appeal despite being located in a 150 year old former department store with courtyards. The room was clean and the beds comfortable but they couldn't fulfil our request for lighter bedding - the room was very hot as they said "we only turn the aircon on in summer" yet they seemed to be pumping out heat instead - wehad to open all three windows to cool the room at night. Wifi is a horrific 7 euro an hour, and the breakfast expensive - thankfully a bakery round the corner has wonderful almond croissants!

However it's easy to find as next to exit 3 of the Republique Metro, and there are useful restaurants nearby if you have children - Hippopotamus had a 7euro 2 course + drink childrens menu complete with activity pack, and their steaks & wine prices pleased us adults too!

Wireless not in rooms - not unusual, but:
Lobby bar area so cold people sat in coats
Horrible dark dreary Club Lounge with bad snacks. They took those away at 20:00 as they were too busy with meeting in the hotel
As a Club guest I was told the restaurant is full ( meeting ) but I can sit in the unheated window area ( - 10 outside )
Staff response is NO ( what is the question?)
Only reason to stay is if you must be in that area of Paris and don't like taxis
