We booked this hotel via Eurostar as it offered a good combination of price, convenience and location (very close to Paris Tube station).

Unfortunately, our experience turned to be stressful and disappointed as we had items stolen from our locked room. Hotel staff proved unhelpful when we reported our losses (make up items and and one iphone). Firstly, the night time receptionist refused to acknowledge the problem. Secondly, he indicated that was our fault to have these items stolen as there was a safe available (subjected to charge, of course). Our only recourse was to write a report in their database.

We suspected the cleaning staff were responsible as we only left the room for a period of 1 1/2 hours and the room door was well locked up. We also informed the housekeeping staff not to service our room. I am still surprised how saying "no" four times can be so difficult to understand. Clearly somebody with access keys came into our rooms and help themselves.

We made an effort not to allow this event to ruin our holidays, but it was an unwelcome and upsetting incident which shouldn't happened in the first place.

After booking this hotel last minute through a travel agency, I got quite nervous when I saw the number of bad reviews. However, our overall experience at this hotel was very positive. We booked this hotel as we needed to take a train from Gare de Lyon to continue our trip and we got a good rate with breakfast included. The hotel rooms were quite small so I agree with other reviewers, but since we only went there to sleep and spent the rest of our time exploring the city, we did not mind this at all. The hotel location is great as it is steps from the Dugommier subway (line 6) which is a direct line to Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. There is a convenience store, a Monoprix, a bakery and a pharmacy right outside the hotel which all turned out to be very useful. We dealt with several of the front desk staff and they were all fluent in English, polite and very helpful.
If you want a hotel that is within walking distance to Gare de Lyon, I would not recommend this hotel. However, you can take the subway and it takes less than 10 minutes to get to Gare de Lyon. I would recommend this hotel if you're planning to explore the city and you're travelling on a budget.

My husband and I booked this hotel as we needed somewhere close to the Gare de Lyon in order to get away early the following morning. To start with, it was a longer trek from the station than we had been led to believe. Once we got there, the room turned out to be extremely small and not very clean. The surfaces of the table, bedside table and only chair were badly stained and the window sill was very dirty. Some of the reception staff were pretty offhand - though we did there the day the French football team get kicked out of the World Cup so perhaps that was the reason...
All in all, I would make sure never to spend a night here again. It's the sort of place which gives Paris hotels a bad name and which shows up Europe against Asia, particularly China. Try staying in a 3 star hotel in China and the experience could not be more different...

When I first read some of the reviews before our trip in late August/Septeber 2009 I was terrified! But our overall experience at this hotel was wonderful! We were offered a 8th floor room with balcony upon our arrival that overlooked the lovely park and neighborhood and distant view of the Eiffel tower. Yes the room was small, but nice for European standards and very clean. The staff was terrific and very helpful, especially the lady that operated the desk during the day. Location was great, only feet from the Dugommier metro stop that will quickly connect you via the 6 line metro with anywhere in Paris. Great neighborhood with some nice restaurants and a Monoprix market across the street on the corner that is great for snacks, wine & beer, cheese etc. A great hotel, staff and location for the value. We will be back on our next trip!
