Given its location, right opposite the Chatelet theatre and therefore in the centre and an easy walk/metro from everywhere, this hotel is astonishingly quiet. I think it's because the rooms face onto a little cul de sac - though you wouldn't know that to look at the exterior.

Our room was pretty tiny - but Paris bedrooms always are if you dont pay a total fortune. It was well-appointed generally - and had an exceptionally comfortable bed (though see below) - with a fruit plate too which was nice...and robes which I love.

And there is a cosy lounge as well as the breakfast room which again is quite unusual. Plus the staff are helpful

Two criticisms: the bedside lamps were so poor, neither of us could see to read in bed - boring. Plus my particular hate: a plastic undersheet. I can't sleep on these at all -waking after an hour in a great puddle of sweat. So I always rip them off before getting into bed - which makes them wholly counterproductive. I'm not a baby or incontinent and do not expect to sleep on rubber. You can get perfectly good undersheets that don't have that.

Anyhow - two little quibbles but otherwise a lovely place to stay.

We stayed at Hotel Britanique from 28th-30th January 2012. The location is perfect for all of the major tourist sights. All major shops just around the corner but a very quiet neighbourhood, although it has bars and restaurants close by too. The Chatelet Metro Station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel itself was excellent value for money, very pretty, extremely clean and well maintained to a high standard. The rooms were warm and inviting. The hotel staff were very helpfull and very knowledgeable on the sights and metro stops etc.
We both enjoyed our stay at Hotel Britannique and Paris is a fantastic city, will definitely be back.
I have never written a review before, this is just to express how impressed I was with the hotel!!

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon which included four nights at the Hotel Britannique.

The hotel is lovely and in a GREAT location. It was quiet and very romantic. The only room available was a junior suite. We were welcomed with roses and a bottle of champagne. The room was large for European standards and had a comfortable king sized bed along with a pull out couch - which we did not use.

We were on the first floor overlooking the street. The windows did an excellent job blocking noise from the outside street. The room was very clean and had everything was a great place to come back to after roaming around Paris.

The staff was very helpful and very friendly and spoke great English. My wife and I were VERY pleased with this hotel and hope to return the next time we're in Paris.

The hotel is very centrally located and walking distance to almost all sights. There is also a metro stop right on the corner. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, unlike most Parisians. The room was small but very clean and charming. The breakfast was ok, probably not worth the 14 euro. I think it should have been included in the room price. I thought the price was fairly high for what it was, although not having stayed in Paris before do not have anything to compare it to. We had a room facing the front with a small balcony. It was too cold to use the balcony, but I imagine in warmer weather it would be lovely. Although the windows were fairly soundproof, we did hear a bit of noise on Saturday night until 2:30 am, and the occasional ambulance going by. Next time I would opt for a courtyard room for the quiet. Although I enjoyed my stay I am sort of suprised at how highly rated the hotel is on tripadvisor. I can't imagine its the 19th best hotel in the whole Paris. The rooms were rather warm and we only figured out that you could lower the heat on our last day. Also the blankets are down and very, very warm. As previously mentioned the lift is tiny and there is a rather long wait so we often just took the stairs. The lobby area is very cozy and the aroma of potpurri fills the air.
