when I travel I want to meet people polite and warm. In Saint Dominique I didn't find polite and nice people. The hotel is in a nice position (but don't eat and have breakfast in rue saint dominique... they take advantage of tourists), it is clean and confortable. They never say bonsoir or bonjour to you and that is important when you travel around the world... ciao

I know this area as I used to live there and popped back the hotel on a business trip this time.
Its a great location and really cute. No its not 5star, but its not a 5 star price either. My room was large and opened out onto a terrace which was charming. I was worried as the windows opened out onto the interior square but it was secure and quiet and I had a portable AC unit in my room so it was okay.
The shower wasn't well ventilated as the bathroom didn't have a window so I complained and the staff said sorry and immediately scrubbed it all with bleach - so the service was good.
The hairdryer wasn't up to much either so they need to improve that for female visitors.
Free wifi coverage was poor in the room but so good in the reception that some savvy locals sit on the pavement just outside and borrow it :)
Some of my colleagues were in Opera area for almost twice the price and had cockroaches and mice... so you can't go all on star ratings or price in Paris.
I think this hotel is suitable for couples on a budget and a great location.

This hotel is definitely not luxury, but we didn't expect it to be so our expectations were met. It was cheap and close to the Eiffel Tower. You can see the Eiffel if you stick your head out the window. The rooms are clean. There is a fridge in the room. The shower had some tiles missing and the decor is definitely not modern or been re-done recently. The bed is hard, but not unbearably so. There is a safe. It was warm when we were there in mid June and no air condition, so we left the window open in the evening, but the street noise was a bit loud so we ended up closing it. Breakfast is filling and good. Oh and the walls are PAPER thin, so beware. Also there is only wi-fi in the lobby, which was a negative. Overall not bad for Paris for the price.

If you aren't willing to shell out the dough to stay at the King George V, then you're going to have a similar experience just about anywhere. This particular hotel has close to no charm, its cramped, and it cannot possibly accommodate simple requests. Having said that, thats not a problem with the hotel, its a problem with the destination. After staying in hotels of 2 and 3 star caliber all over europe, its quite remarkable how extremely dated everything is. It has you wishing sometimes that there was a Holiday Inn express somewhere...i mean...if nothing is going to have service or standards, you may as well have something corporate roll through and do it right. I booked a double room at this hotel, which in France means a king size bed for you and your same gender friend to share. If you ask for 2 beds they either don't understand you...which is not their fault at all btw...or they just don't offer it. I took the stairs because i'm not all about questionable elevators anywhere.
The room is cramped, old, and expensive for what you get. To its credit, its a very secure hotel, the view of the eiffel tower looking out the window to the right is to die for...and the irish pub across the street was a lot of fun. The hotel receptionist takes your key when you leave at night and lets you in when you come back...so security is comfortable. I'd recommend staying here for couples who are on a budget. I wouldn't if you're a guy who doesn't like to share queen sized beds with other guys.
