“An average experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

We stayed in Chateaubriand Hotel between 26 and 30 of Jan 2011.

The pros:
- The hotel is beautifully decorated. The common areas as well as the rooms are very stylish.
- It is located 100 m. away from Champs Elysse in a quite street. You are in the heart of fashionable Paris without being on the Avenue.
- The rooms are not spacious but are comfortable (room 403).

The cons:
- The housekeeping service is poor. They actually just made the bed once a day. No change of sheets for 4 nights, constantly forgeting to empty the waste baskets. They didn't even bother to pick up a leaflet that was left on the floor.
- The bathroom is in an average condition. The bathtube had a couple of dark stains from the use and the basin didn't drain properly.
- The breakfast was poor. I don't know if this is the typical French breakfast but it was consisted by 3-4 different bread types, croissants, jam, a variety of packaged cheese, a cup of coffee and a glass of juice.
- The (free) wi-fi connection was not working continiously.

Overall our experience was average. The price of 180 eyro/night is considered too high for the services. The hotel could be excellent with some tweaks regarding the service and the breakfast.

“Charming and well located - but beware of ground floor rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2010

Spent a Monday night at the Chateaubriand for business. I had room 30 - make sure you don't. It's right next to tyhe main entrance and when I was in the room around 7pm, I could hear a lot of the reception area noise. Luckily when I returned from dinner at 11pm, it was quiet and I had a good night sleep. The service was good, helpful, but that room's specification was not great. I had paid €150 for the night which may be cheaper than other rooms. Good newspaper selection. The reading lights did not switch on their own - so you have to use bright lights at all times. No soap dish in the shower. One door or the cupboard was missing. When I returned at 11pm, the room was freezing and I called reception for an extra blanket (there was none in the cupboard); the receptionist came round at once with blanket and explanations for the aircon, which then worked very quickly. The shower water was hot at 7pm, but lukewarm at 8am. Breakfast is in the area downstairs, which was freezing (guess those nice 'atelier' windows do look great but are hell to heat up). Breakfast was good but I thought overpriced for €22, as it is a continental breakfast. I would say overall it's a good hotel, if you make sure your room is not on ground floor. Very well located, charming decor, helpful staff.

“CHARMING BUT BE CAREFUL!”

The parking that you can "book" has only 4 spots which they do not tell you.
It is not unlikely that you get stuck in a room behind reception - literally!! This is a disaster. Noisy, no privacy. Prepare to wake up at 7:30am EVERYDAY! Make sure you do not get "Room 20".

“An Autumn Weekend in Paris”

Recently returned from Paris where we celebrated our wedding anniversary. We were a bit apprenhensive about booking this hotel based on the varied tripadvisor reviews, but personally, we could not fault overall.
Excellent location, just off the Champs Elysees and within easy walking of major sites such as the Arc de Triomphe as well as shopping on the Boulevard Hausmann. Great weather was also a plus. Helpful English speaking staff.
Quite expensive hotel, but this is Paris.

“Great Little Hotel in the heart of Paris”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

The first thing to say is, do not pay attention to reviews of the hotel prior to 2008. The hotel has been under new management for a couple of years and has undergone extensive renovations. The bedrooms are tastfully decorated and are very clean and comfortable, although the shower in the ensuite could be better.
The hotel is 300 yds from the Champs Elysee which couldn't be better if you want to be in the heart of things, but is far enough away to be quiet after dark, if you are interested in a good nights sleep.
The staff are friendly and attentive, althought the night porter could do with a couple of happy pills.
All in all we enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable bed in the city.
