“Not feeling in Paris at all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

person found this review helpful

I spent 4 nights at this hotel in early February with my family.
The price I got was very good, for a very expensive city, considering I paid U$D 135.- for each room with free access to wi-fi.
To be fair, the hotel is ok. No "charme" at all. It is just a business and convention hotel with a lack of personality... The lobby is proper but the rooms are not worthy of a category of a 4 star hotel.
The staff is friendly and makes efforts to meet the request of the guests with efficiency.

The good news are that the Metro station "Balard" is at a distance of a 5 minutes walk (300 meters) and the connection to the city center is excellent. It takes 20 minutes to reach the Arc de Triomphe (Arch of Triumph)making 1 change at La Motte-Picquet - Grenelle station. To get to Ballard you have to cross under the highway "Péripherique" and walk on Avenue de la Porte de Sèvres.

Breakfast is EUR 17. - which I think is very expensive. Next to the hotel, there is a cinema complex and eateries like Mc Donalds and La Brioche Doree, quite horrible, but a choice for any meal you want to do nearby.
If you do not mind a "take away" breakfast, on Avenue de la Porte de Sèvres (next to the "Balard" metro station) you can grab a French pastry freshly baked and a coffee at good prices (4 croissants: EUR 2.10.-).

This is my conclusion:
For those who want to feel part of the city they are visiting, with its environment, its streets, its businesses, its people ... my opinion is that it is disappointing to be in Paris and see a highway in front of the hotel. You do not feel you are in Paris ... could be any other city !.

“Better than before but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

OK, this time I try the river side room: check photo, it's not a good choise!

Bathroom was OK quite big and clean this time.

Room service didn't refill all the the / coffee / cookies / shampoo but they always skip something randomly: I never had all room this same stuff of first day at all. It always miss some items to refill.

This time the room was clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a city room side view as the river side had big building just in front of hotel!

“Tatty, shabby and expensive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I know Paris hotels are expensive, but to pay more than 200 euros a night for a tatty room, with cracks in the sink, a stained toilet, crumbling plaster, scuff marks on the walls, worn and torn upholstery, and non-functioning air conditioning, is just insane. And to charge 25 euros for breakfast is simply daylight robbery.

The towels were grey, flat and smelled of cheap industrial detergent. If you use the pool (of which more later), you have to take your bath towel from your room, which means that if you want a shower afterwards, you only have a wet, chlorine scented (grey, thin) towel to dry yourself with. Not all of the lift call buttons work. The "glasses" and "cups" supplied for your in-room water and coffee are plastic and paper, respectively. The rooms are not suitable for anyone trying to work. There is no proper seat - just a backless stool, and the lighting is inadequate over the desk. As is common with Paris hotels, the front desk offers service with a scowl.

If you want to use the pool, please make sure you read the information on the hotel web site before you pack. Fortunately, I did read the web page, but if you didn't, you may find you cannot swim at the hotel. You must wear a swimming hat, and men may not wear the type of swimming shorts that are commonly worn in leisure pools.

There's no in-room information about the pool, and despite asking about opening times at the front desk, I was disappointed to go up to the pool to discover that it was not open to hotel guests at that time due to lessons. When lessons were over, I then found out that you have to bring your hotel card before you can go in, there are no changing rooms, and the pool is overlooked by people in the gym above, which is rather off-putting.

I chose Pullman Rive Gauche because it is one of the few hotels in the centre of Paris with an indoor pool, but I will not be going back.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

“1 night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

booked this throught priceline. Only had a few hours in paris. the hotel is quite far out from the centre.Priceline says this is in the eiffel tower area is is not but with the metro being very fast and efficiant it was easly reached in about 15 mins.

the room was very nice and well decorated. super clean good standerd buisness hotel.
we had a high up non smoking floor as i requested which had a nice view of the street.
the bed was very nice and i could have stayed in it alot longer but disney was calling me.
we only spent a few hours there so i cant comment very much.

the staff were friendly and help full when we asked for direction to the nearest supermarket which is out of the hotel to the right ( walking along side the back of hotel) and a 10 minute walk straight down the road this has a small selection of everything you will need from such a place.

a wee tip if traveling by metro.

we flew in to paris beauvais so got the bus in to Porte Maillot then we got on the subway there and changed at concorde to line 8- balard station when you get to this station (depending on what exit you come out) we came out and went left, its a short 2 minute walk to the hotel which is behind the station you cant miss it is as its quite a large building.

hope this helps.

“Very Surprised!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I booked this hotel on priceline and was a little skeptical because of all the bad reviews on priceline. I had never done a "name your price" on their website but much to my surprise I thought the hotel was perfect. The front desk spoke English, the lobby was modern and welcoming, the room was clean, perfect size, and just what I was looking for.

We didnt have a great view as we were on the 5th floor but we went up to the 22nd floor where there is a gym, sauna, and pool. You can walk outside and see the Eiffel Tower (perfect night view).

The hotel is away from everything but its very close to the metro. We jumped on the metro eveywhere we went and got where we needed to go. I would definitely stay here again!!
