“short hallo to paris”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

we arrived with the eurostar and could walk to our hotel, we had a twin bed room, looking onto a small park- this was very noisy late at night but not the hotels fault, the room was clean but smelled of smoke although it was a non smoking room, suggestion to wash the curtains and not just the bedding, small bathroom, seperate toilet, very friendly and helpful staff, helped us with our flight booking and taxi to airport

“charming little hotel”

Stayed here 2 weeks before Xmas for short weekend break. Price very good, staff at reception friendly and room basic but clean. Good size bathroom with bath (always good for a soak after a long day walking around Paris!). Location could not be better: walking distance to Gare du Nord and close to 2 metro stations.

“Good, but can get better for your money”

I will try to be short and sweet about my review. My husband and I, we are not picky by all means, but we can identify pretty well if one place is recommandable or not. I will first point out the good points, which justify my 2 stars:

1. Great location in the OPERA distric. Very safe neighbourhood. A bloc away from Cadet metro station which is pretty convenient to be sure.

2. The rooms are clean and you have enough room to put your two small luggage.

Now the bad which justify the absence of the other 3 stars:

1. Though ONE young blond girl was very helpful for our first 2 days, the others were polite, but very reluctant to be helpful. It seemed hard to get the weather of the day or the next day.

2. THE MOST NEGATIVE part of this hotel is its location in front of the park. We were very enchanted with this fact at first, but it actually turned out to be a nightmare. It seems that this small park is THE spot for young «gang» members to spend THE WHOLE night talking loudly and screaming their heads off... so needless to say, my husband and i DID NOT get any restful sleep throughout our stay. When confronting the concierger about this, he acted dumb like if he didn't know what we were talking about...

3. DON'T include the breakfast to your package at an additional 10$ per person. ITS SO NOT WORTH it... unless you want to pay 20$ for Corn Flakes, croissants and maybe a yogurt if your lucky and pretty discusting coffee... RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CADET METREO, there's a McD's with the usual McMuffin breakfasts available for 12 euros for two people. Or, they have a amazing variety of great pastris and amazing coffee at their McCoffe Café...

4. The lack of plugs is really something, you only have ONE electric plug in the whole room, and one in the bathroom that do NOT accept hairdryers or any other flat iron... so ladies, you are stuck using their very poor small hairdryer... so patience...

5. Eventhough we were ok with this, i think many people would complain about the bathroom size. Very small... you even had to open the door of the bathroom to be able to open your shower door...

6. The elevator are TINY... and its «opens» between floors, so not convenient if you have BIG huge luggage...

All in all, it was a very poor ok hotel for us, cause it could have been worse. However, we would NOT got back to this hotel or recommand it.

Room Tip: Don't go there...

“Very reasonable price close to everything ( By METRO)”

Very clean cute hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beware August since there is NO air conditioning ( something I tried to remember to REQUIRE!) and August in Paris is HOT and HUMID! All the good restaurants are CLOSED until September since they go on vacation in August! BEWARE of Arab owned restaurants! There are many that are open and the food is TERRIBLE! We had to search (and walk) 6 blocks at least to find a little restaurant that was GREAT owned by two gay guys near Place Pigalle that became our nightly spot for dinner. Parris has great restaurants yet August will find you having trouble finding GOOD spots to eat. A dead giveaway is when a restaurant is packed with people waiting ( two streets away from the hotel). There were alot of restaurants by the hotel but were closed until the day we left for the airport (August 30). The Hotel is next to a little parc, and a block to an internet cafe where you can get and receive e-mails! About August... if you like sleeping with wet towels on yourself to make it through the night and mosquitoes ( they don't have screens on the windows like we have in the U.S.) make sure you find another hotel with air conditioning!! This probably was the most affordable hotel in Paris nearest all the venues though.. just NOT in August!

Room Tip: Room with windows since it can get very warm here in August and you NEED ( but won't get) any ai...

“Basically satisfactory, but nothing to write home about”

We stayed at the hotel Williams Opera for a few nights in July, but have stayed there several times before as well. This is mainly because the rate is usually one of the best you'll find in Paris, where accommodation prices tend to be expensive. However, as is often the case, you get just what you pay for. It isn't bad, but it certainly isn't anything special. This is a basic hotel with small rooms and only adequate bathrooms, but again, it is cheap. Breakfast is included in the tariff but it is very ordinary, offering very limited options and hot drinks dispensed from a push-button machine. The hotel does not have enough breakfast tables to cater for the number of rooms, so go down early to avoid having to wait for a breakfast table (but there was a sign indicating this). The rooms are clean enough and some of them do have a tiny balcony overlooking a small park/play area, which is kind of nice. If you don't mind quite basic hotel rooms and / or are looking for a cheap place to stay compared to many other options in Paris, then this one is ok. If you are looking for even a hint of luxury, better try somewhere else.
