“Disgracefull, dirty, under construction”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2010

As with the previous 2 reviewers, the Hotel was under construction, the room and hotel in general were filthy, the staff could not care less.
Whatever happens after the renovation, this hotel in managed by people who believe it is acceptable to have your guests use a rickety fire escape and a minuscule service elevator to access rooms in a building site. Avoid at all costs.

“Never again even if it was free”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

This hotel was terrible. for $177/night in Paris I did not expect spectacular especially since they said they were rennovating but this hotel was dirty. The staff was pleasant but not helpful. There was NO LOBBY, NO PORTER. The elevator was filthy. The towels were grey. I was afraid to sleep on the beds/

“Disgusting - Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

While it is difficult to articulate my outrage, disappointment and discomfort, here are some of the ‘highlights’ or shall I say ‘low lights’ that have precipitated this complaint. Many (as indicated) are supported by current photos taken during our captivity. Reality sure does NOT match the photos on the Brebant Hotel Website.

1) Lack of Safety –
a.Guest rooms DID NOT have smoke detectors or sprinklers.
b.Only one exit route from our floor. Turn left out of our room and proceed down the hall to a drop of several meters to a construction zone below. No barrier and in case of fire, there would only be the main staircase as an escape route.
c.Hallway ceiling had several gaps exposing wiring and other hazards above.
d.Bathroom area had extensive mold.
e.Walls in room, hallways, staircase and elevator had extensive mold showing through paint and wallpaper in several areas.
f.Main staircase had significant slant and it seemed as though it would collapse in the very near future.
gSpare beds, ladders, bags of dirty laundry were left in hallways. The hallways were already narrow so adding clutter just made it worse.

2) Lack of Security –
a.We were forced to relinquish our room key whenever we left the premises to employees at the front desk. The keys were hung on a peg board and when we returned we were told we would have to show a card that indicated our room and the key would be handed to us. While we were required to turn in the key, never were we asked for proof before we were given our key (only had to tell them the room number and the attendant handed it over)
b.Room window overlooked the rooftop and the ledge was filthy with cigarette butts and dirty ashtrays that appeared to have fallen from workers above. .

“Cute charming hotel and a good location..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2010

Me and my Partner went with Air Canada Vacations package that included the room at this hotel for our Honeymoon. The hotel was right in front of the Metro station, which provided a good jumping point to go anywhere in Paris. Was in a great location, lots of nice little restaurants and shops in the area, including a grocery store across the street.

The hotel was very clean, but very old. The room was dated, but had a nice charm to it with windows that opened up to the street below.. The bathroom was also dated, but very clean and had a nice sized bathtub. The bed was a little hard, but actually comfortable for two people.

The street could be noisy at times, however coming from a big city you tend to just tune out the chatting and traffic. Our room had breakfast included with it, the breakfast was just a cold one, croissants, Danishes, cereal and yogurt, juices and coffee. Not bad, but would have been nicer to have some hot dishes as well. They appear they will be doing some major renovations shortly, as we saw plans for new room colours and a reception area on the second floor near the restaurant.

I would actually stay here again when in Paris if it was an option in a vacation package as it was a cute charming hotel and a good location..

“Great budget choice for an afforable break”

Initially we were disappointed, the hotel looked old and shabby and we thought it was going to be a bit of a dump - HOWEVER- please dont be put off. Although the decor is dated the hotel is spotlessly clean with excellent quality cotton bedlinen. Our room was small but had a quirky charm with windows opening on to the boulevard. The hotel was quiet at night despite facing a busy street. Staff all speak excellent English and bent over backwards to be helpful. The whole hotel has a quirky feel with uneven stairs and 70s wallcoverings. Continental breakfast is fine with lovely fresh rolls and pastries. Excellent location for metro. ONly downside was a thin mattress and only one pillow provided.
Suggest you buy the carnet de 10 metro tickets and if you want themain attractions you just need the central Paris option. If unsire ask at hotel reception - they are delighted to assist. I recommend you take a travel hairdryer - you can borrow one from reception but there was not always one available. They will take care of luggage after check out if you have a later flight. Would recommend for a low cost break
