We stayed at this location during a July trip to France. Our 20th wedding anniversay and husband's 50th....with teens in tow we set off to discover Paris.
Wow, wow, wow, trip of a lifetime and enjoyed EVERY inch of it. The hotel accomodations were perfect. This location is "off the path" but still close to everything. A Metro station (subway) across the street = minutes to just about everything. The coffee shop across the street was a perfect cup to wake to and the restaurants down the street, very enjoyable, very reasonable (for france) very filling and friendly (for france!) In fact we ate there most nights...don't despair, parisienne's can appear to be "snooty", they are not, it's just the way things are there. We speak the language which was helpful, but in most areas someone is willing to translate. Any restaurant you choose, SPECIFY, "caraffe d'eau" (pitcher of water)...it's free, otherwise you WILL be upsold to a bottle of water =very costly...The hotel was VERY spacious for all four of us and the kitchenette was perfect for quick breakfast. It was stocked with small amount of kitchen items, just enough. Attached to the hotel is a "shopping" complex with a grocery store, clothing, coffee shops etc. If we ever go back, we WILL stay here. We have stayed at many 5+ star locations on other trips, this is not, but it's very clean and spacious. We booked a Bus tour ("Hop on hop off" as we did when visiting New York and Enland) and would recommend highly. We booked for the first few days so we can see which locations we wanted to re-visit during our stay, best and cheapest way to get around and get acquainted. I think we visited just about all the locations on the bus route...I walked-off a pair of shoes on this trip! Places to visit: La Louvre, La Seine,Tour Montparnasse and Montparnasse cemetary, Notre Dame and across the street from Notre Dame there is "restaurant alley"...you MUST go....winding streets of food, food and more food. Excellent prices and value...we dumped a fair bit there! Souvenirs are so expensive so we hit local little shops and found non-tourist items that were more personal and economical. L'Arc de Triomphe is a must, Chateau Versailles was beautiful and a good train ride away so go early in the day - trains do not run all day....you will enjoy. We also booked a day trip to Long-Sur-Mer and the war memorial. The train ride was VERY comfortable because we spent a couple of bucks more to book seats rather than a "booth"...more leg and elbow room. We also decided to take a semi-private bus tour...6 to 8 ppl rather than the big bus of 45-50 ppl....VERY worth the $$ more. The tour guide offered a more personal detail of the area and we could see everything much better...incredibly touching tour. As with all our trips, we do a fair bit of research of the area bfore visiting and book bus/train tours on-line ahead of time, cost in most cases were better and we knew how the week was going to unfold without "wasted" time. We could also plan our day's visits more effectively since it's a hop on hop off bus of various special attractions, and cheaper than taking taxis.Other areas of interest, the Catacombs...sooo cool, go on-line and check it out first. At the Eiffel Tower there are a lot of "gypsies"...children who beg you for money....DO NOT get sucked into this...pick-pocket central, the kids distract you then the adults move in...we seen some in action and were told by locals to walk away and avoid. Paris is so big and there are so many neat things to do....research before is your best bet to maximizing you time there...you will enjoy....I hope you find this review helpful. Remember any trip is a good trip...don't sweat the small stuff.
