Like most Parisian hotels, the rooms are small. But they are clean an comfortable. Our room had a queen size bed, color TV, mini bar, and was just what we needed after a hard day of sight seeing in Paris. The bathroom was very nice as was the view of the courtyard.
The breakfast was excellent as were the staff. I didn't see anyone tipping the breakfast room staff, but they were so helpful, I left a 1E coin on my table every morning.
You have to get a password for the free wi-fi, and it's only good for one device, but just ask and they'll give you several for your various devices (we had 2 i-phones and one laptop).
While not being in the middle of the touristy areas, the location is fine with the Metro just across Place d'Italie, bus stops, plenty of bakeries and restaurants within easy walk, many many ethnic restaurants, a shopping mall, monoprix, pharmacies, etc. This is a residential neighborhood. It's about a 1.25 mile walk northeast to Notre Dame, so not really very far from anything at all.
We arrived in Paris via Gare du Nord on the Euro Star from London and then took the Metro to Place d'Italie in the evening, several hours after rush hour. Schlepping the luggage through the Metro at this hour was no problem. We flew out of CDG and our flight left in the morning during the rush hour. We asked the hotel reception about the possibility of a taxi and were quoted $60 at least if they called one for us. But if you look out in Place d'Italie, you will find taxi stands. We just walked up to a taxi and asked "how much to CDG". It ended up being only around 40E, which was a small price to pay for not having to schlep our luggage through the Metro and RER.
This was our first trip to Paris and we stayed 8 nights. The Metro makes getting around very easy, like with any large European city. But I recommend the excellent bus system instead of the Metro, because you get a view with the bus.
