My husband and I were recently booked into this hotel by our hosts on a work trip, so we had no idea what to expect. We've stayed in other boutique properties in the same neighborhood and found the places a bit depressing: very small rooms, inattentive staff, poor restaurants, etc. The Hotel California completely reversed our impression of Champs Elysees area tourist hotels! From the moment our car was greeted by the bellman with, "Welcome to the Hotel California!" (with a knowing wink) in English (which can be reassuring when you're a jet-lagged American who hasn't used her high school French in ages), we knew we were in good hands. As others have stated, the staff is amazing. It must be difficult for them to choose an employee of the month...they're all so personable and helpful!
Our room was perfect: quiet, beautifully decorated, functional, and very clean. The lobby bar is dark and clubby with strong drinks and good food. We did not do the breakfast option, so I can't speak to that, but the breakfast room looks charming.
I'd happily recommend this place to anyone wanting a good, central "base of operations" in Paris. Bon voyage!

We visited Paris for my wife's birthday.
After months of research we stumbled across the California. What a little gem. We checked in late one evening where the duty manager greeted us with passion and interest in his role, he was extremely helpful.
The room we were given was above our expectations, spacious and extremely clean and the beds were wonderful.
We decided to dine in the hotel as it was extremely late, the guy in the restaurant Thierry was exceptional. There were no problems making our party feel at ease and the dining experience was fabulous, Thanks Thierry.
The bar manager was also extremely helpful the following day with a wealth of information on the sights and history of Paris.
The hotel is situated close to the Champs Elysee, ideal for shopping and just a gentle stroll along taking in Paris.
A special mention is also the guys from concierge who again were very helpful indeed.

The Hotel California is in Rue de Berri and is about 200 yards from the Champs-Elysees. The Arc de Triomphe is around 800 yards away and the George V Metro Station is even closer, so the Hotel is ideally situated for exploring the City. Moreover, it is surprisingly quiet, given its proximity to the Champs- Elysees crowds. The King room was very comfortable. if slightly hot , and it was well equipped , although a double bed would have been better than the two singles pushed together that we actually got. The room safe, ridiculously, was placed out of reach above our heads and we had to stand on a chair to use it. The shower was also very dangerous, with uncontrollably scalding water alterating without notice with cold water. Reporting this made no difference while we were there.Reception staff were very helpful with restaurant reservations, directions advice and lending umbrellas. The hotel bar was very comfortable but VERY expensive. Breakfast was very good and very enjoyable but again, rather expensive at 25 Euros a head.

The Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful, they were all so pleasant.
Wonderful location and so close to the Champs Elysees, M&S is on the corner!!
The hotel had been beautifully renovated and the room & bathroom fabulous. Even installed a new iPod dock/ radio the same day we checked in, so you could play your music.
Wifi is free in the lobby, but i could also receive it in the room.
Cannot wait to stay again soon!!
