Normally I spend a lot of time and energy picking out the "perfect" hotel when we travel. However, due to a train strike in Belgium, we made a last minute decision to arrive in Paris one day early. Trying to book something for our imminent arrival on the train did not work, as the wifi did not work most of the time of our 1 hour and 15 minute train ride. When I got to the train station with my 2 teenaged girls I was more than a little desperate. I went to the tourist information desk at Gare du Nord and a lovely lady assisted us with a hotel booking. The price and location was perfect with this hotel, just an easy 7 or 8 minute walk from the Radisson on Haussman, which we were staying in the following day. On the positive side, the hotel did appear to be in a safe area, everyone we encountered at the hotel was quite friendly and there was a metro close by (maybe a small block or two). On the down side, the triple room we booked was one double bed and a cot, with the beds overpowering the room, with barely any room to place suitcases. Room was stuffy and needed updating, bathroom had only a shower but it was not bad and was clean. Walls were thin, we could hear everything going on in the room above us and next to us, and I mean everything! The "professional" photos shown with this hotel and on their website are very good, our room looked nothing like the ones I see. Not a bad hotel for one night, but it is in no way a 3 star hotel.
