“Take the Long View!”

I wrote a review of the Noailles about 10 days ago and could not understand why it had not been posted. Then realised that it was because I was not logged in with a Trip Advisor password.......! So tried again and was welcomed with a thankyou for my review...sigh of relief I did not have to remember everything I said..............except that the review for which I received thanks dates from 2005! C'est la Vie!, still 9 people liked it so lets see if I can do better this time.

In fact having re-read my 2005 comments I am not sure if there is a great deal to add, except that nothing has really changed, the hotel still has the nicest staff I have ever encountered, the rooms are constantly refurbished, and the overall feeling is that the owners really care about the welfare of their guests. I was there in early January, for once with my partner (who has insisted on writing her own review) and the room and service were once again five star.

I mentioned in my earlier review that I use the Noailles mostly for business. On my last trip in 2011 I failed to reserve at the Noailles early enough and I arrived from a Transatlantic flight to find that Paris was completely full (if you ignore rooms at the so called palaces starting at 1100 euros a night). I had no choice but to curtail my Paris stay and head for the UK later in the day on the Eurostar. What did the Noailles do? They stored my luggage for the day, found me a room for a couple of hours so that I could have a shower and provided me with one of their great breakfasts. I managed to get to two of my meetings and got my Eurostar, tired but very relieved.

Service like that is simply gold dust and is one of the reasons why the Noailles continues to sit at the top of my list of places to stay in Europe.

Dear Mr. Mills

We are very happy you eventually managed to post your review. It is so laudatory that it would have been a shame that it remained unknown to the TripAdvisor community.

We indeed always try to exceed guests' expectations and make them feel home. It seems you very much appreciate the Noailles' philosophy. And we do appreciate return guests like you.

When you wrote your first review 5 years ago, hoteliers could not reply to the guests. Technologies keep moving forward while at the Noailles "nothing has really changed" as stated in your review. I am sure this one will get even more "like"... We'll see!

Anyway,we thank you for taking some time to share your opinion on the Noailles and look forward to welcoming you again.

Kind regards

The Hotel de Noailles' Staff

“Amazing Staff, Amazing Location, Amazing Stay and Amazing Style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This was my first trip to Paris. I was not sure where to stay in the city, what area was safe, and read that Paris had many trashy hotels and I do not speak French. I hunted hard to find a hotel with high reviews and this one had so many. The bad few reviews clearly came from customers that must have been in a bad mood because the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable every chance they could.

Our flight was changed so that we had to arrive at 8am putting us at the hotel at 9am. I knew the chance of a room being ready this early was highly unlikely but we thought we could leave our bags. After being greeted warmly by the front desk person, we were told they had a room but it needed to be cleaned. We were told that they would send housekeeping to our room immediately and the room would be ready in an hour. We chatted in the lobby with the staff and the room was ready as promised.

The hotel has a charm to it (charm does mean small) but it was so comfortable. The hotel is on a quiet street, just one street each direction to anything you need or want. Super high end shopping and typically shopping is just a few blocks, a short 10-minute walk to the Louvre, and less than ½ mile to most anything. Cafes are less than a 2-minute walk and a great breakfast pastry shop right across the street that puts out fresh pastry every morning.
The room was on the smaller side but I have stayed in smaller. The room had a queen bed and about 2-feet on either side of the bed. The room had two steps up to walk behind the headboard that led to a large opening door that looked into the courtyard. I slept with my window open every night as the weather was so fantastic. The bathroom is spacious with an oversized stall shower with a wonderful rainfall shower head, separate toilette room and the whole room had amazing lighting. The room had a large Samsung flat screen TV. The TV had two English stations but I did not spend much time watching TV.

The hotel also offers a lovely lobby bar and a bartender from Sri Lanka. He made an a fantastic drink and helped with local directions and information on the Metro.
I only have nice things to say about this hotel and I would return and recommend it to anyone that asked. I always felt safe, welcome and slept so comfortably in my quite room and amazing shower. I am sure you could find larger rooms but from what I understand, it is hard to find a large room in Paris unless you can pay a super high price for the space. The funny thing, a few nights later in London we stayed in another beautiful but larger hotel and I kept thinking about how I loved the space in Paris and the way it made me feel. My boyfriend said that it was the charm and the staff that made it special not the square feet.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a queen sized bed over a double

Dear Guests

What an amazing review! We would love to have them all the same! And I quite agree with the hipothesis that negative reviews must have been posted by guests in a bad mood.

There are so many details in your comment that I am sure it will help the TripAdvisor users make the right decision... Book the Noailles.

The staff are indeed very helpful and concerned about the guests' well being. We are so happy you liked the charm of the place and hope to welcome you again very soon.

Thanks for spending some time in writing this review.
Kind regards

“A Hidden Jewel in the Heart of Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

The hotel Opera de Noailles is one of the finest hotels in Europe my husband and I have ever stayed at. Situated in the very heart of Paris, near the Opera, the famous shopping centre Galeries Lafayettes and the Louvre, Opera de Noailles is a haven of peace where you can relax and unwind. Being an art lover, I was thoroughly impressed by the ultra-modern design combining art déco and the japanese zen both in the rooms and public areas.

Upon arrival, our luggage was picked up immediately and sent to our room while check-in was a matter of minutes thanks to the efficient staff at the reception. As soon as we stepped into our room , we were speechless. We really felt like staying at a contemporary art museum, yet. reminiscent of Stendal's Le Rouge et le Noir! Only an artist could have decorated room 307 combining with skill the basic colours - red, black, white - in a modern design. This amazing decor goes hand in hand with comfort. Cleanliness in the room was impeccable!

Breakfast was served in a cosy dining-room and consisted of a wide variety of French cheeses, croissants, rolls, pancakes, fruit and cereals, apple-pie(!), jams, scrambled eggs and sausages. Two smiling ladies welcomed us there every morning and made us feel like staying at a friend's home - not a hotel!

Some of the best restaurants in Paris are situated at a short walking distance from the hotel-such as Le Petit Colbert which we loved and the japanese restaurant Nikko next door not to mention a wide range of bistrots and bars in the area. We would have loved a gourmet restaurant in the hotel, though.

We would like to thank all the staff for being so kind and polite making our stay such a great pleasure. We only wish we could stay longer... but one thing's for sure. On our next visit to Paris, we will definitely choose Hotel Opera de Noailles!

Room Tip: Definitely choose room 307 !!! We loved it!

Dear Guest

Your wonderful review is definitely a jewel for the travellers who will read it. I am sure that after going through it, they will be convinced the Hotel de Noailles is the right place to stay at in Paris.

We are very proud you enjoyed so much the subtle combination of contemporary design, Art Deco and Japanese zen. Indeed we are very much into art and love to share this passion with our guests.

Room 307 is indeed a very good choice since this is a Junior Suite, the largest room type at the Hotel. We will definitely inform the staff about your warm compliments with regard to their kindness and efficiency.

Really hope you will be able to stay longer next time! Many thanks for taking some time to share your opinion on the Opera de Noailles.

Kindest regards

“Quirky, Efficient, Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This was our second stay at this hotel and we were only here for 1 night, but thanks to the great location we managed to pack plenty in! The reception staff at all times were warm and friendly. I love the quirky little additions, giant snails in reception, bears in the garden, funny little object d'art everywhere!

Our room was lovely, quieter than last time when we overlooked the street, but that wouldn't have been an issue. Lots of nice little touches in the room - black slippers! And a fabulous night's sleep in the very comfortable beds.

No hesitation recommending this hotel, would gladly stay here again!

Dear Guests

Indeed we are animal friendly at the Hotel de Noailles: silver turtles, orange bears, purple and blue snails... and many other pieces of art. They are here to look after you during your stay!

Glad that you experienced a good sleep in a comfortable bed. It is crucial to start a nice day in a good mood. So we hope to have you for a third time then...

Thank you for taking some time to post this warm review and for recommending the Noailles.
