“Very Comfortable Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This hotel is a delight for a number of reasons.

It is in a great spot to see many of the sights of Paris - particulalrly for first time visitors to this city who need to orient themselves.

The rooms are a good size, as is the bathroom, and very quiet. Some, like ours, have windows that open on to an internal courtyard which has a great view of the local rooflines - very Parisian. The staff are very polite and helpful but unobtrusive.

Best of all is the value! A great price in what is often a very expensive city. We won't hesitate to go back.

“Small, quiet hotel but beware of cell phone connections !!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

The hotel location is excellent: at walking distance from Place Vendome, very close to Les Tuileries and Le Louvre. The Mercure is a tiny hotel with no more than 20 rooms. It is quite elegantly decorated, especially compared to other Mercure properties. I was surprised by the room size which was rather large by Paris and Mercure hotels standards, maybe because the hotel is officially a 4-star hotel. It offers standard amenities for a hotel of that category. The bathroom is also unusually large and well decorated with white and blue tiles and a slight retro touch. Staff was very helpful and serviceable. I was allowed to stay in the room after the official check-out time at no charge. Breakfast is served in a small room on the -1 floor where you access by a nice stone-walled stair. Here again service was very friendly. Because I spent some time reading a newspaper and my coffee got cold I was spontaneously offered another one. This is the kind of attention you appreciate in a hotel in France. Breakfast selection is large but newspaper selection is not large enough with business and English newspapers missing. However, there is a major downside in the hotel. I could not use my cell phone in the room as the connection was extremely poor. I mentioned the issue to the hotel manager thinking it was due to the room location. I was told that unfortunately the situation was the same not only in the whole hotel but also in the street. As I was traveling for business with many calls to place it was quite annoying. However, leaving this point aside I would not hesitate saying that the Mercure Stendhal is a very good option if you have to stay in this area of Paris.

“Good location and cost....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Great location and for the cost of the stay a good Paris hotel. Breakfast too expensive and lots around to sample. Good location for nice French restaurants, shopping and celeb spotting (Ritz round the corner) Staff very efficient and quite a quiet hotel. Some of the fixtures and fittings a little tired but very clean and comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Great location and cost

“Small City Hotel in Paris, most rooms quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

Mercure Hotel Stendhal Vendome is located in the very center of Paris, round the corner of Place Vendome, near Tuilleries, big department stores, Opera, Gare St Lazard. By RER and metro easy acces (several lines, 5 minutes walk). Through the tuilleries pedestrian bridge to Musee d'orsay. It is a tiny hotel with about 20 rooms, the staff is family-like and helps in every respect. You feel always welcome. Most rooms are quiet with comfortable bathrooms and beds. There is selection between a large buffet breakfast or a continental version, with 7 Euro a very reasonable choice. TV offers international channels, but only one German.

“SMALL CHARMING HOTEL”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We spent three nights here and thought that the room was fairly small but beautifully furnished with old/antique furniture. Bathroom again was small and the shower over the bath is not ideal for older people. However for the price and location the hotel was very good.
