“Pleasant stuff - nightmare hotel manager”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I've stayed in this hotel after New year's eve 2012 and we've booked it via booking(dot)com. They both promised us parking for tourist van higher than 195 cm (since the whole Paris have garages up to 190 cm) - we didn't get it when arrive.

Instead of helping us hotel manager almost ignore me, called booking(*(//$#)com and gave me telephone to sort it out by myself - unbelieveable since both booking and hotel promised us parking space. Nothing was sorted out, lady manager just ignored the problem instead calling Paris parking what I asked her (web page is in French and they don't offer parking informations for vehicles higher than 190 cm) so I've drived with my brother for several hours through Paris after driving 800 km to get there. Ofcourse - we couldn't find suitable parking and finally exosted manage to park on the street.

Next morning receptionist who worked instead of mentioned lady dragon called Paris parking and found us garage. It took 15 minutes. Why we have drived around and around for hours I don't know?!

I do not look people with any predujice but if you're fat, not very simpathetic and good looking you should be nice to people. That lady was THE WORST MANAGER AND RECEPTIONIST EVER and I travel a lot. If it wasn't to her I would gave the hotel mark 4!!! With her all went to hell - mark 2. Please someone fire her a&/%/$%&ss !!!!

Breakfast is too poor for 11 euros - they should't call it buffet! You could find much better breakfast up to 11 euros in

The other staff was very nice, rooms small but equiped as 3*, it was a bit noisy but - this is Paris. Compliments for the cleanliness (although they insisted to clean every morning and we told them not to).

You could reach Paris center with metro in 15-20 minutes so it is pretty good connected.

I don't know what to add. I feel sorry for the people working with lady dragon :(

Room Tip: You'll have a big problem if you visit Paris with vehicle higher than 190 cm. Don't take bre...

“Two nights which never happened..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Firstly, i have taken into consideration that this is a Two-Star hotel and even for budget hotel - it is at least expected to withhold a considerable level of accommodation. I believe to to have been misled from previous positive reviews about this particular hotel.
Me and my girlfriend decided to stay here for two nights as it is a relatively cheap and from reading the reviews and viewing the images - it seemed to be rather good.

It was our first time in Paris and as we disembarked the metro and reached ground level, there was a slight confusion as to thinking " is this Paris" i would like to say it was 'quite' cultural - but even culture didn't look this displeasing.. the area surrounding the hotel is not where you would like to be if you are trying to experience Paris; not the East-side of London. Roads were not laid out properly, ditches everywhere and frankly the community wasn't very pleasant as they looked pretty 'ruff'.

Now the moment of truth, as we finally arrived at the hotel staff were very friendly and spoke good english. The dining room looked nice as well, i would assume food was decent (judging by previous comments too).
We took the elevator up to our room, opened the door to be shown something somewhat similar to a box room. The bathroom was tiny but was clean and equipped with what is necessary( you have got to do a 360-degree turn to move).
The bed now is what was the ice-breaker, this bed was about nee height to me and i am only 5ft 7 .. as you went to lie on the mattress it felt rock solid. there was no duvet, just a thin(not thick) sheet to sleep in. And as for the cleanliness of the bed sets, it was appalling.. nobody would physically pay hard earned money to sleep in bed sheets of that condition; it had an awful scent, it was dirty( you could actually see the brownness) and provided two pillows which were not comfortable. However the LCD tv was nice and there was free wifi in the hotel which is defiantly a positive consequence. Nevertheless the overall condition of the room was alarming - damp in walls and ceiling is a health issue.
We had one of the staff(cleaner) knock to come in the room and she began telling us in french it was cold but we only understood it as she was using body language which we understood very easily, she then physically went and turned the heater on and we knew then that she was definitely talking about the coldness.

In the end i decided to take action and head downstairs where i was trying to compromise with the staff at reception for a better room, he told me "all the rooms are the same" , after about 10 minutes trying to talk to the man, he gave me a key to another room which was for 3 people the condition of the room was slightly better really wasn't ideal.
So, finally i had to cancel the booking where i was charged one nights stay which seemed fair but the room was such a bad state we couldn't possibly sleep comfortable or even feel on holiday.

Ultimately, i wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are trying to visit paris for first time and want to experience this city;however, if you are on a really a tight budget and not particularly fussed about sleeping conditions then i would, with regret, say this is hotel could be ideal for you.

I am only 19 years of age so my views may differ to another individual, i am not particularly picky either but if you are going to pay for accommodation, i am more than sure you would prefer it to be at least decent.

Room Tip: Double bed rooms are very small, rooms for 3 people are slightly larger.

“As good as it gets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

When reading any reviews about the Comfort Hotel Nation always bear in mind it is a two-star hotel. We've just stayed there for five nights, my wife and myself, and my elderly parents.
On the positive side:
- free wifi, which should put many four and five-star hotels to shame. It worked fine during our entire stay.
- very reasonable buffet breakfast with quite a few options.
- hot water working really well; bathroom equipped with a hair-dresser.
- interesting neighbourhood, with no tourist attractions to speak of but fascinating multicultural background, with lots of interesting shops and restaurants, particularly on Rue de Charonne (the Vietnamese restaurant Paris-Hanoi on 74 rue de Charonne is fantastic, and there is a really good creperie across the road from it).
- 100 meters walk from the metro station.
- a late-opening supermarket right next to the hotel.
On the not so positive side:
- old bulding with a tiny elevator.
- rooms are small but then, this is Paris. Tiny bathroom, too. You will feel cramped.
- no air-conditioning or ceiling fans in the room. When we were in Paris it wasn't hot, but I suspect it must be quite difficult to sleep during the summer months. The road where the hotel is located is not particularly noisy but if you open the windows you will be distracted by the noises coming from below.
All in all, a hotel I would definitely return to if budget was an issue - I would only avoid it during the hot summer months. Excellent value for money.

“OK budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

Spent two nights here, and found the hotel clean and neat, and with good service. The room was very small and quite a lot of noise from the streets. Not the most interesting neighbourhood, but close to Metro. Helpful staff.
