I was a little reticent about staying in this hotel after having read some of the negative reviews, but because we were in Paris for a long weekend, we wanted a centrally-located, clean, comfortable hotel that would not break the bank. This place fit the bill. Still, I can see where concern might be merited. Each of the three nights we returned from our city jaunts, we encountered a different front desk person, so when we asked for our room key, how was each to know we were the rightful patrons? Fortunately, nothing bad happened to us or to our two other couple friends.
The hotel is a five minute walk from Notre Dame. Go south and you're on the Left Bank. Go north and you're in the trendy Marais area. Easy walk to Metro stations to take you to all the other Paris sights.
The rooms themselves are the typical European-sized chambers, but they are well-maintained. The bathrooms were updated with marble floors and contemporary bathroom fixtures.
There's a room downstairs with a computer and printer and some chairs and cushioned benches, so one evening we took a bottle of wine and a baguette down there and relaxed before retiring for the evening.
Would we stay there again or recommend this place to friends? Answer: yes!
About me: I am a businessman living in NYC (although this trip was for pleasure) in my mid-forties and I have been fortunate to have experienced quite the gamut of hotel experiences, from top-of-the-line brands such as the Four Seasons and the Peninsula Hotel to mid-level establishments like Marriott, Hilton, etc., to the value/economy offerings of Holiday Inn and Days Inn.
Room Tip: Our room, 114, looked into the small courtyard and did not have a window onto the street, so I think...
