Right in the Marias is a charming affordable hotel.......Rooms are small but antique filled Staff and on premises owner make it all the better.......breakfast served downstairs by the loveliest of servers

All in All worth it

If you are looking for a charming, boutique hotel in the Old City, this is the place for you.

The building is charming and the location is excellent: close to boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and historic sites. You are a few minutes walk from Notre Dame and the proximity to the Seine makes it an easy and scenic stroll to the left bank. If you are a runner, you might want to run along the river: it's about 7 miles round trip to the Eiffel Tower and on Sunday, they had closed off the road next to the river for runners/walkers/bikers. The metro is about a 5 minute walk. You can also take the metro one stop to the RER B station or walk 5 extra minutes and take the RER B straight to CDG or Gare du Nord. There is a self-serve only laundry right around the corner.

The rooms are small by US standards, but very charming, with an 18th century decor. The rooms are clean and we had all the amenities we considered essential: WiFi that worked flawlessly, outlet adapters (note: they do NOT convert voltage), 2 closets that held a week's worth of clothes for a couple (we each brought one carry-on), wine glasses and corkscrew (we picked up wine at the Monoprix round the corner every day), minifridge, spacious bathroom and bathtub, a retractable clothesline over the bathtub, and even a lovely (small) terrace that had just enough room for a small table and 2 chairs. The bed was comfortable. The towels were not fluffy but bathrobes were provided.

What made the place shine was the staff. Even before we got there, they were friendly and responsive. They are very attentive, accommodating, pleasant, and multilingual. They held the luggage for us, made reservations for us, and just generally provided first class service for every request we had.

This is a perfect example of "you get what you pay for." It's not expensive, nor is it super cheap...so you get an *excellent* location, comfy beds, but subpar linens, microscopic rooms (even the superior rooms are a tight fit for two people with lots of luggage), polite service, but not many amenities (no kitchen/roomservice, spotty wifi, cheap soap).

But if you're like me, and you just use your hotel as a place to sleep because you're out all day/night, you'll find this hotel quite comfortable.

We spent two weeks here in December 2011. The staff was always helpful. They gave us directions on many occasions, made réservations for us for dinners, and made shuttle arrangements for us to thé airport. Samira, who brought us breakfast every morning, was a delight, even on Christmas morning when I'm sure she would have préfèrred to be home.

The hôtel is in a fabulous location, within true walking distance of Centre George Pompidou, Notre Dame and thé Picasso Museum (although it is closed for rénovation). Although the hôtel very close to two métro stops, it is on bus line 69, which goes to the Louvre, Musee D',Orsee, Eiffle Tower, Musee Rodin, Rue Cler and Hôtel de ville.

I can't say enough good things about this hôtel. But it is only as good as the people who work there and they are all tops.
