“Not quite a 5 star”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My stay at Le Meurice was marred by the poor concierge service. I had asked for help making reservations for several very popular restaurants in Paris. I was told by the concierge that these restaurants only accepted reservations 30 days in advance. Knowing this was not true, I called myself and was able to secure reservations 60 days in advance. Had I waited 30 days, I would never have been able to secure those reservations and a good part of my vacation compromised.

I had initially posted a review about this, management responded and promised to make my stay at Le Meurice an unforgettable one.

My stay was very pleasant, the room was nice, the location was pretty much unbeatable. Service was acceptable but not something you'd find at a true 5 star hotel.

“Has become my favourite hotel in Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Great location, superb renovation and perfect staff. This is all of what you expect from a palace. The rooms are just very elegant with this french baroque feel that we all love.
The bar is very nice and offers top Champagne. Have not tried the restaurant but will definitively stay there next time we are in town.

“Among the Nicer Paris Hotel; Nice Blend of Modern Juxtaposed on Traditional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Struggled whether to rate this hotel 4 or 5 stars. Good location, though Rue de Rivoli is hardly among Paris' more attractive streets. The Starck designed lobby is brilliant- very nice take on traditional, and making it thoroughly modern. Rooms are modern traditional, but very fresh and updated to a very high standard. Excellent bathroom. Service was "proper" in that very French way- not rude, but lacking any warmth or sincerity, and generally quite polite (however, the person who escorted me to my table at breakfast was rather grumpy). Flight arrived early, so I checked in late morning- I totally accept that the front desk has the right to ask me to come back later at check-in time - that said, there were serial "your room will be ready in 20 more minutes", and by the fourth time, that became tiring (plus a waste of my time- I could have gone and done other things)- speaks to service execution that is not perfect, which it should be for a hotel of this quality- thus my 4 star rating. Would love to go back to this hotel, and be convinced that it should be rated 5 stars. I will be going back.

“Almost Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I had a similar experience to another reviewer who found the service to be just a little bit off their game. Nothing serious and still very recommendable as a hop-notch luxury hotel but at this level, I was expecting perfection. I was about an hour early for check-in but the room wasn't ready. When I returned 15 minutes after check-in time, the person at reception spent a while trying to confirm with a phone call to see whether it was ready. I was upgraded to an executive room which as expected was very nice indeed. I was looking for an elegant older style room after a recent stay at the modern Park Hyatt and loved Le Meurice's more traditional look and it's wonderful view out to Tuileries and the Eiffel Tower. The concierge did a good job of helping us procure tickets to some concerts and arranging dinner reservations. Wifi was exorbitant but not unexpected considering the class of the hotel. The only other issue was the inordinate amount of time it took to get our luggage down on the final day.

“Finest hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have stayed at the Meurice Hotel more than 25 times, and if you want old world charm with modern amenities, this is the place. The service is as good as service can be, and the food is excellent. But be aware, it is very expensive. As an international lawyer I travel on an expense account, and this is precisely what you need if you spend much time in this great hotel.
