“Not as bad as most say.... I think!”
One cannot expect luxury when paying pauper prices. I understand this concept. This hotel tries to meet expectations, but fails in organization. The beds are by far some of the most comfy out there, and it has a quaint feel to it, but there are other points that stand out that make the overal experience a little soured.
We booked the hotel online, through an agency, Somewhere in cyber space information got lost and we were not booked into what we had originally booked. The clerk handled the situation beautifully, but it was EXTREMELY apparent that the hotel is quite unorganized. Still working a lot with paper trails and an outdated booking system, created a little bit of havoc. In the end they were quite accomadating and gave us our two rooms for the price we paid. It took about 30-40 mins, but we were satisfied by the end.
The Elevator aka- the DEATH TRAP. If you value your life, DO NOT GO IN THE LIFT. It is a very very very small lift. It says that it has a capacity of 4 people. I am by no means a large person, nor are my friends, but when us 4 got in the lift, and the doors shut, I saw my life flash in front of my eyes. You could hear the plaster cracking as it was going up, and it wasn't a faint crack, it sounded like someone was removing plaster with a hammer. The wood paneling (which I think was laminate flooring on the walls) was creaking so loudly that I started to take a panic attack. You are so crammed in there that its hard to even imagine. We were on the 4th floor and I refused to go up that lift again.
The room was small, clean and the bed comfy. A place to lay your head. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want a remote for the tele, you must go downstairs and ask for it. Only one English Channel, BBC World news, channel 50. The breakfast is served in the basement, and it looked quite good. I didn't partake, but from what I saw it was decent.
Soundproofing- Non- existant. I do know that our neighbors had a good night, must have been her honeymoon... they had a good time at night and then again in the morning.... wasn't awkward in the slightest when I ran into her in the hallway lol.
C'est la vie, for the price, you get what you pay for. As my favourite saying goes, Dont have champagne taste on a beer budget, be realistic.
The location is alright... metro station not a far walk, but stil not super close. Sacre Couer is really close, so that was nice.
Would I stay there again... probably not. Was it a perfect place for 1 night? Absolutely.
Room Tip: First floor rooms have a lot of noise from the lobby below... go higher, but don't take the lift...
