We stayed for 3 nights at Mama Shelter and really enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is not centrally located but there are a number of Metro Stations within 10 minutes walk that will get you into central Paris quickly. We arrived fairly late on a Friday to find a very lively atmosphere with both the hotel Pizzeria and Restaurant very busy. We managed to eventually get a seat at the 'communal' table in the pizzeria and enjoyed a pleasant if not remarkable pizza. An inquiry at the restaurant in regard to table for the following night was met with a "fully booked", so it may be worth booking ahead of your arrival if you want to eat there at the weekend. We did get a table on the Sunday and enjoyed our meal and found the service from the waiter to be very good. All the staff throughout the hotel, (who were probably recruited on the basis of their looks!) were extremely helpful and couldn't be faulted. We ate breakfast in the hotel 2 mornings (15 euros each) and again found it an enjoyable experience.
For a local restaurant recommendation, we found L'Ange Gardien to be an excellent little bistro and only about 5 minutes walk from Mama Shelter
