If you are very particular about cleanliness this is not the place for you. We found long hairs in corners, in drawers, in the bathroom, clinging to the orange blankets, which where changed when asked. What we did like however, was the apartment's location-- next to the Natural History museum and the Jardin des Plantes. You can take bus routes 24 to most places or 63 (to the Eiffel tower and the shopping district) or you could just walk along the river to most of the major sites like the Notre Dame.

The reception, Delphine in particular, are very helpful and informative. I think the reception hours are now longer and we had no trouble checking in and noticed that the reception was manned most times as we set off for the day or returned. They print out tickets etc. for you if you mail it to them and will even call you a taxi. (the taxi to Orly cost us about 43 euros).

We also liked having our own space in Paris with basic kitchen facilities. We walked to the markets everyday (Rue Monge and Ru Mofftard are just beyond the park) and shopped for bread, wine, fruit and cheese and this saved us money on meals. If you do fancy a proper meal, there are restaurants and a Mc Donalds just down the street.

At 130 Euros a night, this is a steal in Paris. It was lovely to have a room looking into the Natural History museum and waking up each morning to the incredible view of dinosaur bones.

I stayed here because I was familiar with the area and wanted easy access to public transport in Paris and the surrounding areas (Versailles, Fontainebleau-Barbizon, Saint Denis) etc. This was an excellent choice. The studio was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was huge (for Paris). The Kitchen had everythig thaat was required fridge, micro-wave, stove top, sink and enough plates , cups and saucers, pots and pans and cutlery for 2 adults. The studio was very quite as was the whole establishment. The front desk personnel were helpful and friendly. One fault is that there is no free wi-fi. I paid 20 euros for a weeks wi-fi access card. It not that much and I found the wi-fi useful. I travel to Paris every year and will return to the Les Jardins Du Roy.

Pro:
Location is perfect. Not only access to metro and train but also surroundings with restaurants, the Seine river and Jardin des plants, which is a larger garden than expected.
Grocery shop, supermarket around the corner. McDonalds at 50 metres.
Staff is very helpful and speaks good English.

Con:
Kitchenware is bare minimum.
Lack of a relaxation chair.
Basic interior.
Thin blanket.
Our room had no view. Ask for it.

The room was clean and had everything we needed - warm towels, clean sheets, basic kitchen stuff. Couple of meals, we bought bread/cheese from local markets and made dinner right there. It's right next to the metro station, that was quite convenient. Our bed wasn't the most comfortable, but it was quite clean. Also there is no one to check in or even hold your luggage between 2 and 7pm, so we had to lug around our luggage for a bit. I'd suggest making sure you land when the front desk is open or atleast find a place to leave your luggage till you're checked in. Overall, for the price we paid (we paid around Euro100 a night), I thought it was a good deal.
