Quick summary: like staying with your aunt with good taste and a sense of comfort, with a view of the Chateau Fontainbleau.
We stayed here as our first night on a 3-week tour of France, about an hour's drive from Paris. The hotel is one of charm with individually decorated rooms. Like staying with your aunt with good taste, the room was very comfortable, even if the furnishings had been around for a while.
Room #8 is very spacious and has two large double beds with a front-on view of the castle, very magical when lit up at night. Lots of chairs in the room. There is a room safe, flat screen TV, free internet, AC in most rooms. Closet and drawer space is limited, but there is plenty of room for a luggage rack or two. Thankfully, the bed has separate sheets and blankets, which makes for a much more comfortable sleep than the duvets that some hotels have adopted (always too wam, even with the AC cranked up.)
The bathroom is very spacious with a tub/shower, and large old-fashioned marble-top sink and vanity.
The rooms are quite individually decorated. I was able to peek into roomm #5, which seemed to have a big bed and decorated in blues. Our room was predominantly done in gold tones. While most rooms have AC, check this feature if it matters to you in warm weather.
Even though you are in the center of the tourist area for the castle, the room was very quiet at night.
Very friendly, helpful and professional managers. Excellent housekeeping.
The breakfast buffet is pretty good at 13 euros, and includes breads, pastries, and cereal; meats, cheeses, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs with an egg cooker; etc.
Parking is 9 euros a night in an enclosed lot adjacent to the hotel.
There are many restaurants in easy walking distance of the hotel. The location also makes it very easy to tour the castle, i.e. drive from Paris, tour the castle in the afternoon.
This was a comfortable and enjoyable stay that I recommend if you'd like to stay in Fontainbleau. I give this place a "very good" as much for the price/value of the location as the comfort of the room.
