“Charming hotel with a view of Chateau Fontainbleau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

Quick summary: like staying with your aunt with good taste and a sense of comfort, with a view of the Chateau Fontainbleau.

We stayed here as our first night on a 3-week tour of France, about an hour's drive from Paris. The hotel is one of charm with individually decorated rooms. Like staying with your aunt with good taste, the room was very comfortable, even if the furnishings had been around for a while.

Room #8 is very spacious and has two large double beds with a front-on view of the castle, very magical when lit up at night. Lots of chairs in the room. There is a room safe, flat screen TV, free internet, AC in most rooms. Closet and drawer space is limited, but there is plenty of room for a luggage rack or two. Thankfully, the bed has separate sheets and blankets, which makes for a much more comfortable sleep than the duvets that some hotels have adopted (always too wam, even with the AC cranked up.)

The bathroom is very spacious with a tub/shower, and large old-fashioned marble-top sink and vanity.

The rooms are quite individually decorated. I was able to peek into roomm #5, which seemed to have a big bed and decorated in blues. Our room was predominantly done in gold tones. While most rooms have AC, check this feature if it matters to you in warm weather.

Even though you are in the center of the tourist area for the castle, the room was very quiet at night.

Very friendly, helpful and professional managers. Excellent housekeeping.

The breakfast buffet is pretty good at 13 euros, and includes breads, pastries, and cereal; meats, cheeses, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs with an egg cooker; etc.

Parking is 9 euros a night in an enclosed lot adjacent to the hotel.

There are many restaurants in easy walking distance of the hotel. The location also makes it very easy to tour the castle, i.e. drive from Paris, tour the castle in the afternoon.

This was a comfortable and enjoyable stay that I recommend if you'd like to stay in Fontainbleau. I give this place a "very good" as much for the price/value of the location as the comfort of the room.

Room Tip: The rooms with views of the castle are wonderful

“To visit places just outside Paris, it's a winner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

This is a comfortable hotel and best suited for visits to Fountainbleu, Vaux le Vicomte and Chateau Rambouillet. You will need to rent a car to see the last two places at your own pace. There appeared to be bus tours as well but be adventurous. You can also visit Versailles from here as it is on the way to Chateau Rambouillet. Breakfast was pleasant. If you don't like climbing the old spiral staircases in Europe, ask for a room on the first or second floor. Their staircase is high and narrow. Staff friendly but quiet. Rooms generally bigger than Paris standards but smaller than ones in the French countryside.

Room Tip: Ask for interior room & guest parking

“Lovely hotel with great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

Hotel Londres in Fontainbleau was a lovely hotel directly across the street from the Chateau . We had a beautiful view from our lovely room of the Chateau. Breakfast offered was very nice and delicious! Only an hour from Paris, Fontainbleau is a great place to stop for the night if you want to just rest and get over jet lag a bit before heading south, in our case to Burgundy.

“Lovely Londres”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2011

Fabulous location overlooking The Palace/Hunting Lodge and virtually in centre of town. The hotel looks as if recently extensively refurbished. Lovely decor, soft furnishings etc. Spacious room comfortable but no bedside table or reading light. No restaurant although good selection within easy walk. All of staff good helpful and friendly
