“Nice hotel but starts to wear out around the edges”

The Napoleon is located right next to the chateau with underground parking available across the road (€10/day). Staff was very friendly and helpful and we had a good night's sleep.

Rooms are decent size, clean and quiet, but the building could do with some extra TLC. Bathroom joints were cracking, several tiles had broken off and on several doors paint started wearing down.

Overall, we had a short but good stay that a spring clean and some fresh paint would have made even better.

Room Tip: If you have a pushchair, ask for staff to keep it locked away in the lobby to avoid steps. Book onli...

“Nice location to see the Chateau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

The hotel is close to the chateau and the breakfast is very good. The room was small but adequate and clean. I also needed tech help for my cell phone and had the assistance of several of the front desk staff. Their English was quite good and they helped me get connected. We chose Fontainebleau to avoid Paris and it really worked out well. I would go back and stay here again so we could spend more time in the forest.

“Wonderful ambiance and great location!”

The Hotel Napoleon is a small hotel directly across from Fontainebleau and on the main street. It is quiet, with a lovely courtyard. The staff is friendly, speaks english and very eager to please their guest. The hotel has free WIFI in the lobby. I was having trouble with my I pad and the young man at the desk was very helpful. We had also left our cell phone at home. Big mistake. The front desk was helpful in making any arrangement we needed. The room was ample in size, the bathroom was equipped with hairdryer and toiletry supplies. The also provided a converter for my I pad. They provide bottles of water in the room. Close to restaurants, shops, phone store, and pharmacy, everything just steps away. The food at the breakfast buffett was varied and fresh. They provide dining on the patio or inside.
Bring a face cloth for bathing, the hotels do not provide them in France. The room was clean and of good size. The hotel was agreeable to hold our luggage the day of departure while we toured the city.
Be very cautious of "gentlemen" scammers. I was approached by a friendly well dressed elderly gentleman who offered to give me a ride to the Grand Prix Horse Show. The lady at the hotel desk overheard the conversation and informed my husband that the man was not to be trusted, in fact she called the police and he had no passport, drivers license or identification of any kind. The police promptly removed him.
I can not say enough about the wonderful help by all of the front desk staff.

Room Tip: I checked several on-line sites and found that the hotel offered the best price at their on-line sit...

“Ibis was better value, won't be coming back here!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

Rooms really small and once a baby cot in barely enough room for us and our bags
let alone our pushchair which then created a real fire safety hazard. No
cupboard or hanging space which was really difficult as in town for a wedding!
No where to hang towels in bathroom. No toilet roll holder. Large and noisy
portable air conditioning unit.. Was effective but could only have on for short
periods as so noisy and sandwiched next to baby's cot!. Dated decor.
Lift tiny...really hard to fit buggy into but almost impossible to carry baby
and luggage down narrow winding, poorly lit stairs. Lots of steps into hotel and
throughout which made manhandling the baby's pram really difficult...thank god
my husband is a big strong lad. Not sure how would have coped on my own. Fi re
escape? To street bolted at bottom...not confident of escaping from this hotel
in an emergency which made me nervous.
That said rooms were clean albeit dated, breakfast was ok but only as included in price - not worth paying extra for.Central position in Fontainbleu useful although bit inconvenient to truggle with baby and bags down to car park across the road... Particularly
when the lift was not working.
Overall I thought it was completely overpriced and not suitable for families
with young children... The ibis we stayed in on the trip down represented much
better value. I wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for one not overlooking the courtyard and don't go in summer

“No respect for clients”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

The hotel hosted a wedding during our stay and extremelly loud music played just in front of our room until 3 am. Clients were not warned about this event and the employees did not care. Some clients called the police at 2.30 am.

I would not recommend this hotel since it's management has no respect for clients.
