We spent three nights here in December, with our two adult children. We had two rooms that were across the hall from each other and in their own separate "wing" of the hotel, so we had a very private space. (I believe they were Rooms 1 and 2). The rooms were large, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were both spacious and equipped with many amenities -- robes, slippers, hair dryer, and a heated towel rack, which also worked well to dry a few small items of clothing. The rooms faced out onto the courtyard/garden, and even in the winter, there was plenty of greenery. The staff was extremely friendly, with the hostess going out of her way to make phone calls to see if any restaurants were open on Christmas night.
The only possible drawback for some travelers might be the location. The hotel is located up the main hill to the Citadel, so travelers who were walking (as we were) have a bit of a hike if they're carrying much luggage. It's also a 10-15 minute walk to the main downtown areas. However, none of that bothered us. The hotel is close to several bus stops, to access the train station and other areas of town. We would choose this hotel again if we were to return to Besancon.
