We stayed one night at Hotel Central before catching our ferry back to Nice. The hotel is located within walking distance of ferries, shops and restaurants. So that was a plus. The room was quaint but the bed was too short for my husband (who's not even 6 feet tall) and the hotel room had no air conditioning. There was a ceiling fan but it was hot so air was what we desired. Our room was located right next to the lobby (room 102) and right above the cafe next to the hotel entrance. We were up several times that night due to noise - cafe patrons, street sweeper went by twice, garbage pickup, and finally the cafe opening with chairs and tables crashing around. Overall, it was a horrible night of sleep and I would not recommend the hotel.
We traveled with friends whose room was on the second floor of the hotel facing a different street (room 214). They didn't encounter all the noise we did. However, still no air conditioning.
Don't pay for the breakfast (8 euros) since the noisy cafe is right out the door and offers it for 5 euros. Trust me when I say they open very early!
