“Quiet hotel with sea view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

We stayed two days in this hotel in a room with sea view. Located just outside Bastia on a hill side we found it pleasant, clean, quiet and comfortable hotel. Rooms were a bit small but the balcony is nice with all the flowers around.
There is no dinner facility. Breakfast was sufficient but not extended. We have to say since we were at the end of the season breakfast served was probably limited due to the amount of guests in the hotel. Their normal breakfast buffet was closed.

“best place we stayed at in Corsica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

What a find -this hotel was lovely. A little way out of town possibly not very suitable if you didn't have transport but in every other way it was excellent. Set up high on a hill with distant views of the sea over the top of a beautiful garden with swimming pool. The hotel is full of lovely pictures (modern ) and the decor is modern too. The staff are very friendly and efficient. There is plenty of parking (a rarity in Bastia) Breakfast was traditional French style but good quality and plentiful.

“Very Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

All I have to say that is if you're travelling by car, stay at this hotel!

The hotel's environment is really nice, although it is not walking distance to the centre of Bastia, it is also not far (5 min drive), the hotels makes you feel like you're not near a city at all, great views, great garden/pool, trending bar area. We were really glad that we found this hotel!

“Definitely need a car”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2008

Good points: very clean hotel. Pleasant staff.

Bad points:
location impossible without a car.

No food other than breakfast same every day.

Hotel deserted most of time as seems to be used by people en route to somewhere else. Hence ok for an overnight but wouldn't recommend it for a week's holiday. No atmosphere at all in hotel.

Walls are paper thin so sleep difficult as every time a shower is taken or a toilet is flushed in neighbouring room, sounds like a waterfull coming through the walls.

Village of Pietranera - one pizzeria in a very uninteresting, characterless village - not worth visiting.

  • Liked — clean hotel
  • Disliked — characterless hotel near very uninteresting village

“Great for short breaks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2008

This is a lovely hotel with really nice staff, very clean and well cared for but for some reason, which I now realise, it appeared to be empty most of the time. We were there for a week but hardly saw another soul, the receptionist had to open up the bar to serve us a drink and there really wasn't anything to keep us in the hotel apart from the pool, which was nice. They don't do any food at all apart from a continental breakfast which is exactly the same every day (juice, croissants, bread and jam) and if you are there for a week it gets boring as there is nothing else to choose from. If you decide to have a pool day, remember to bring sandwiches from the village as you can't even get a bag of crisps here!

There are very limited places to eat in the evening in the local area. Don't be fooled by the description of the footpath from the hotel down to the village - it's really several flights of unlit concrete steps down to parade of shops with a pizzeria which actually does good food, worth knowing if you can't be bothered to go into Bastia. Other than that, the village itself is really a collection of shops along a main road, nothing to write home about at all.

On balance, this is a great hotel for people who are touring and want somewhere to stay which is immaculately clean with friendly staff (all three of them) and nice pool area, just for a couple of days or so. We didn't realise this before we booked, and wished we'd found somewhere else with a bit more going on where we could have walked to local beaches, restaurants, cafes, etc., but this area is mainly residential with hardly any facilities at all unfortunately. Although our brochure said a car was not needed, it definitely was if you intended to eat anything, ever, otherwise you would be getting a taxi or bus into Bastia all the time.

My advice? If you want more of a holiday hotel in a lovely setting, go up the road to Erbalunga and get booked into the Castel Brando. If you're touring the area and just want somewhere clean and comfortable to rest your weary bones, the Pietracap is fine. But bring biscuits.

  • Liked — Friendly, helpful staff. Immaculate rooms. Pretty gardens.
  • Disliked — No atmosphere, deserted public areas, no facilities other than the pool area.
