We stayed at the Caranella in September 2008 and loved it. Florence on Reception was really friendly and helpful and upgraded our room as the residence was not too busy. Ali the maintenance guy was really good, sorting out our problems very quickly and always a kind word and a smile when you met him around the property.

The hotel had a heated pool which was appreciated as the weather was not that warm this year in September, on average ab out 23 c which is not really sunbathing weather.

We were pleased to have a large bungalow with living room and kitchen as we spent a lot of time indoors to the weather.

It was no. 11 and beautifully decorated with lots of characters.

We were only a few minutes walk from the beach and a short drive from the restaurant El Rancho where we had our evening meals. We were on half board but were always able to change one of the items of our menu if we didn't like it and the food was fantastic. Even though it was not that warm in the evenings the terrace was covered and warmed so we were still able to eat outdoors with the waves crashing in the back ground as the reastaurant is on the beach.

The breakfast was not great, precooked rolls which they finished baking themselves and were usually not cooked enough and quite pasty looking and also precooked mini croissants.

Being in France I would have expected bread from a baker. We ended up getting our own bread from a baker down the street and eating it at the restaurant.

26 years ago we fell in love with Corsica .......not difficult as it's undoubtedly the loveliest island in the Med, offering unspoilt beautiful beaches warm clear water and a rugged interior ..always with the underlying aroma of dried herbs.
It was Caranella Village that we made our holiday home.Over the years we have seen many changes in the village ...not all so good but never seriously bad and never anything that caused us to look elsewhere.The village offered a relaxed holiday with access to a lovely beach via a wooded footpath (5 mins walk) safety for our children and their friends, a pool to sit round a chat ...always making new friends who themselves very often became addicted to the island.We have a boat that we keep on the island from which we scuba dive and use to visit the many secluded coves that are close by as well as making night cruises to beach side restaurants.
Caranella Village has emerged over the years as a well appointed holiday destination offering hotel service , self catering (that's us) and a beach restaurant 'Ranco Plage' that offers fine food plus views of the moon over the sea that cannot fail to entrance you.
.....and yes Florence is great!

We like to visit places that have been created by people who love the Country and the area. This is the case of Caranella which was first built and run by Sam and Gerald with their wives Caran
and Pamella, hence the title. The spirit of the Village has not been lost over the years nor with new mangement. It is a place for peace and happy days.

A lovely setting next to THE GRAND HOTEL DE CALA ROSSA.Dinner at THE RANCH OPLAGE was good but no choice. Lunch option was better,wish we had tried that earlier.Staff very helpful,ESPECIALLY FLORENCE ON RECEPTION,who was very friendly AND SPOKE ENGLISH OF SORTS.Room was excellent with 6 FOOT DOUBLE BED AND WALK IN SHOWER AS WELL AS BATH WITH SHOWER. Lots of storage space too! be warned that it can get very cold at night in early June.
