“Very pleasant Ibis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Very nice Ibis Hotel and as other reviewers have said, when you've stayed in one Ibis you've stayed in them all.

Ibis have moved away from covering the beds with their signature print coverlet to a two coloured duvet - which is an improvement.

We didn't bother with the Ibis breakfast - we have always felt that it is overpriced for what is on offer. Instead we walked five minutes into the city centre to a patisserie where we picked up two freshly baked pain au chocolate.

We didn't use the Ibis car park and simply parked in the open air carpark next door - as it was Saturday evening there was no charge.

One thing to note, if you download to your SatNav the directions from the Ibis website, you are directed to the Etap hotel on Rue 14 Juilliet round the corner. It's easier to type in rue Camille Claudel instead and you will be directed to the right hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift area - in this hotel there are vending machines to you may end up...

“Good value hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

The Ibis Troyes Centre, part of the Accor chain, is a modern, basic hotel about a 10 minute walk from the old town part of the city. Our room was very large, quiet, with a queen and a twin bed. The bed was comfortable. There was a large, modern bathroom, though the lighting in it was poor. A/C. Free limited wifi. Reception was friendly and helpful. We had some difficulty finding the hotel until we noticed the street signs pointing to it - so look for them when you reach the city! The nearby Hippopotamus Restaurant was quite good. Loved this city!!

“Good room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

the Ibis Troyes is part of a complex of hotels,a Mercure and All Seasons. We paid to park in the car park(9euros) and we probably did not need to do that as we could have parked on the street. It is easy to walk into the centre of Troyes from the hotel. We didn't have breakfast, probably a mistake as a juice, small coffee and a plain croissant cost 6 euros in a small backstreet bar.

“good stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

Easily found, good rooms, and within an easy walk of the old town for a great choice of shops and restaurants. Wifi allowance a bit mean, but staff helpful and cheerful.
Beds were comfortable, got a reasonable sleep, and easy to get out of town and back onto the motorway north.

“Good but a few reservations...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Location

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the centre of town, in a complex of Accord hotels, a cinema and a couple of restaurants. There is external parking next door which offers free parking for 2.5 hours. Other than that you are looking at street parking from what I could see. We made use of the secure underground car park at 9€.

Staff

The reception staff were pleasant and efficient and spoke perfect English, which helps...

Room size, comfort, amenities and cleanliness

The room was a decent size and clean. The bathroom is essentially an inset pod in the corner with a good sized and powerful shower. You get a flat screen tv with CNN, BBC world news and lots of French channels. No coffee facilities but that's normal I think in France. Also in common with other hotel's in France is the small single pillows and the very firm bed! So not the best night's sleep but I think that is partly a cultural divide on mattresses...
The only real issue was the warmth of the room. There was air-con but it seemed to be struggling to cope. There is free wifi limited to 200mb per day and only one user - so if you have a laptop and iPad you need to take turns.

Value

At €57 (ex-parking) I thought it was good value. Would I stop again, hmm not sure I could cope with the bed for another night.
