The hotel is located on the outskirts of Reims, in an industrial park. We were well prepared with maps and sat nav, so it wasn’t too difficult to find, but I recommend a bit of forward planning if you intend to stay here. It sits in its own fenced grounds, with plenty of free car parking at the front of the hotel.
We received a warm welcome from the charming receptionist, who spoke English well enough to explain what we needed to know, including details of the free wifi internet that is available.
The room was very small indeed for two people, and I suspect they are identical throughout the hotel. It was furnished with a double bed, a couple of shelves and a small desk/shelf with two hard chairs. The TV was small and came with 18 channels – all in French.
The bed was low, and very hard indeed, which meant that I didn’t sleep at all that night. In the evening, the hotel was noisy at first since you can hear people in the bar area, flushing toilets in surrounding rooms, closing doors, etc. It did quieten down later on, however.
The bathroom was small, but had a good strong shower.
As others have said, there are four restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel, including the hotel’s own. We intended to try one of the two Chinese buffet restaurants nearby, both of which looked very nice from the outside. However, our limited grasp of French (when it comes to Chinese foodstuffs) meant that we gave them a miss and went to the nearby steakhouse (Courtepaille) where we had one of the most disappointing meals we’ve ever had in France. We cannot recommend it.
Back at the hotel, the breakfast was a continental style buffet that offered plenty of options: cereals, fruit juices, toast, preserves, croissants, bread rolls, ham, cheese, eggs, milk, coffee, etc.
We paid 58 Euros for the night, including breakfast for us both. This was a discount rate, since we booked well in advance.
For a place to lay your head for one night, as you travel elsewhere, this is a good option and offers good value, as long as you don’t mind a hard bed!
