Clean, bright and modern. Friendly staff and a decent selection at breakfast. Restaurant rather overpriced. The room was on the small side and clean but had all you needed but you might not want to spend more than a night or two there. We used it as an overnight stop en-route to Burgundy and then Italy and it met our requirement perfectly and was much better than those we stayed at on the return journey.

This hotel is away from the centre of Chalons just off the A4. Be careful with the roads around the hotel as the trafic is fast and the STOP signs mean just that. The room was on the small side but adequate. It was clean and tidy and the bed was large and comfortable. The reception staff were helpful but there is no lift (elevator) to the first floor.
The main dissapointment was the Cafe which struggled with a decent meal in the evening. It took a long time to arrive but as there were very few people in the Cafe this was not surprising. When the food arrived it was quite acceptable but not exceptional.
I would use this again as an overnight stop to/from the south of France but not for more than this.

We have used the Chalons Ibis for some years on our trip from the UK to go skiing. If you are going to break the journey overnight it is best to do so South of Rheims because of the terrible queues which form at the Payage station there on Saturday morning. This little hotel is perfectly positioned, easy to get to/from the motorway, easy to find with their map and instructions and not hidden in the town itself. (So if you want to stay in the town, look for somewhere else!) It is good value and provides a functional bar and very acceptable dinner and breakfast.

One word of warning: when you book on line there is no way to select twin or double rooms. If this is important you need to send a message to the hotel to specify!
