I stayed here at the end of a tour with Shearings, and this hotel was a big let down compared to the rest of the tour (one excellent Novotel was the other hotel used in France on the outbound leg of the trip.
Firstly the positives: the receptionist was friendly and the breakfast was good and plentiful even for a coach tour group.
However, the rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired. The first room I was in (I asked to change for reasons which will be obvious) had just one electrical socket for guest usage, right in the corner of the room on the floor underneath a long table thing, so to charge my phone I had to crawl on hands and knees on the floor. However, as this room was directly next to a function room which was being prepared for a party, I pre-empted the disturbance (or so I thought) by asking for a room move. It turns out that other people located several rooms down the corridor from me also asked to be moved due to the noise when the party started.
The room I was moved into was clearly better in design... and right above the party. I got virtually no sleep and was pretty tired as a result but as the hotel was full it was better than nothing. The room was clean but the bathroom had hairs from the previous occupant, and also the bottom of the bath looked like someone had attacked it with a cheese grater.
Dinner was a farce - nice soup, awful attitude of the staff meant I didn't even try to see what the options would be for a non meat eater, I gave up the ghost and went to lie awake listening to the drunken going ons instead. The waiters in particular were ruder than the stereotype of a rude French waiter (which is actually very rare in my experience, never had a service problem anywhere before).
I'd prefer never to stay here again but accept that if I go on another Shearings holiday that might happen.
