“Charming grounds and exterior, tired interior”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The flowers, waterway, and exterior facade of the building were charming but the inside was in great need of renovation. Our room, although large, was unattractive, poorly lit, didn't have screens on the windows, peeling wallpaper, mismatched everything. The restaurant served food that was of a much higher caliber than the room might have suggested and we were pleasantly surprised and even impressed with our dinner and breakfast. I might go back for dinner (it's a little out of the way), but would stay somewhere else.

“Fabulous restaurant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We have just had a lovely meal here. The setting is lovely and very quaint. The food although a little expensive was outstanding. The cheeseboard is one of the best choices i've seen. I would highly recommend this retaurant.

“This hotel restaurant deserves a star from that tyre company guide”

This hotel is close to Tours and tucked away in the corner between two motorways - their noise does not intrude. A good base for visiting the Chateaux of the Loire. The hotel rooms are not luxurious but comfortable and at Eur 81 for a double per night - not expensive. The restaurant is exceptionally good and there were some dishes here that are amongst the very best I have ever eaten. Menus at Eur 51, Eur 43 and Eur 36. The wine list is extensive and priced sensibly for the quality that you can get. The chef, Michael Chaplin, shows that love of delivering perfectly cooked food with an explosion of flavours that you see in far more well known chefs. Go before he gets really discovered !

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the hotel benefit from the frog chorus from the millpod - hilarious

“Charming, very European”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

This old mill set on the narrow Indre River has been converted into a very pretty small inn. The basically non-English speaking staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was out of this world delicious, beautifully presented, varied menu, desserts and cheese board spectacular. We did the fixe menu with the room. The bedrooms are small, not really great for spending much time in them. Bathrooms tiny but very adequate. Gardens and terraces inviting and comfortable - no other real "public" areas. We would stay there again without hesitation but we'd get a room on a lower floor to avoid long narrow steps with luggage. Directions to get there are iffy at best without help from the Garmin we would still be trying to locate it.

“Second Time in 25 Years !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

This Logis de France hotel was more remotely situated a quarter of a century ago. It was in the middle of a forest and had few amenities. Today there's a bit more habitation and the Peage isn't far away. Also in those earlier days, en suite wasn't an option and I recall being trapped in the internal, communal bathroom when a power cut struck. But the food was remarkably good then, and that quality has come down the years to us now. Today Le Moulin Fleurie enjoys a deservedly good reputation for its cuisine. Taking the 30 euro menu, we enjoyed a delightful meal and the crowded dining room - principally French - spoke to its being a popular venue. The rooms are comfortable and now have all of the necessary facilities. But the stairs are narrow and there's no lift.

Room Tip: Take a first floor room if you can.
