“Nice hotel”

I stayed at this hotel for four nights in mid November. It's not very far from the Tourist Office. I recommend taking a taxi to the hotel if you have a lot of luggage.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. They speak English. The rooms are clean and sleek (as Lonely Planet described). There is no lift, so be prepared. Free wifi works great.

If you like to jog, there is an area about 3 blocks away by La Loire river. I agree with the other reviews that it can get very noisy. But, I think it's mainly on Fridays or the weekend. The hotel is by bars and the crowd can get very rowdy. You can join them perhaps? :)

Tours is very charming city! I went on a few minivan castles tours booked through the Tourist Office on the same day. They open at 9am (closed early on Sundays). Azay le Rideau and Chambord are must sees. Usse was a disappointment. Seriously, don't bother and save time and money. Minivan tours are good to get around, but keep in mind you only get a little over an hour to explore each castle. Also, these tours usually do not include an entrance fee, just a discount. If you want see Chenonceau, Blois, or Ambois, you can easily take the train.

“Don't stay here if you want peace and quiet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

The most memorable thing about our stay at L'Adresse was the noise from the revellers in the street which intensified in the early hours of the morning. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and on each night, without fail, we were woken up by a group people screaming and shouting at the top of their voices, their behaviour no doubt fuelled by the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol. We were given one of the rooms on the 1st floor overlooking the street so maybe the back rooms were quieter. Anyway, not good if you want an undisturbed night's sleep.

Our room was clean enough but a horrible odour emanated from the drainage hole in the bath tub (or what is the sink?) which I can only guess was sewage.

The service was unobtrusive to the point of being almost invisible.

On a more positive note, the hotel is centrally located in the old town and handy to many eateries and shops. The room although fairly basic had a certain pared back elegance.

The breakfast was pretty basic with the usual pastries and cereal (but no fresh fruit) which is what you would expect for 6 euros.

All in all, not a place I would return to.

“Good location, a bit noisy though, clean and friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We requested a room on level one when booking, as my 74 year old mother was travelling with us, however we were placed on the top floor, facing street. So carrying baggage up the stairs can be an issue if you aren't travelling light. The upside of the top floor is that it is a little quieter than the 1st floor (those rooms have more windows to allow the sound in). Two of the three nights we woke to loud voices and noise. Staff friendly and great location. Would recommend this hotel if you don't mind being woken up or are a heavy sleeper.
Nice tidy rooms. If you were a bigger person, not sure how you would fit in the toilet and actually be able to close the door.

“Good choice Lonely Planet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

While visiting the Chateaux in the Loire Valley my husband and I stayed at the L'Adresse hotel for 2 nights. The hotel is located in a very lively area surrounded by great restaurants, but is a bit far from the Office de Tourisme, if that happens to be your meeting point. The staff were very professional, our room was very clean, however, there wasn't much variety for breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Thanks Lonely Planet!

“great, smart, modern hotel right in old town of tours”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

great small, reasonably prices modern, newly renovated hotel right in the centre of the old town of tours. if you want to right in the middle of things right on the cobbled old streets this is the place. not bad prices. small rooms but perfectly formed, modern and very clean. only downside is the noise late a night from the restaurants outside if you have room facing the street, nice view but you get the noise. However if you are out in Tours dont come back too early anyway...
