“American oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Seriously, after the tiny, battered boxes that pass for budget hotel rooms in Paris, this place was paradise. For a little over 80 euros a night, we got a large twin room with private bath and central air conditioning. The bathroom was spacious, sleek, clean, and actually had a bathtub! I never heard noise from the neighbors or the adjacent street. The location was convenient to the train station, tourist office, and many restaurants. All of the receptionists (but especially the fellow in the evenings) were incredibly pleasant and helpful. You could be picked up at the hotel for chateau tours. If I were to complain about anything, it would be the old-fashioned door locks (you had to use your key to lock the door when you were inside and when you went out), but this is nothing compared to the positives. I would definitely come back!

By the way, when you exit the front doors of the train station, make an immediate right, cross Rue Edouard Vaillant, go straight on rue du Rempart for 100 yds or so, and make the first right. That should bring you to the hotel. Like others, I got lost trying to find it the first time.

“Great management and helpful staff in a fantastic city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

We stayed here with our teenage daughter for 3 nights. Very small room, difficult to find and very expensive for what was provided (eg. no fridge, wi-fi did not work). However, manager and staff were delightful and very helpful. Tours is a beautiful city, well worth a visit.

“Friendly, helpful staff in a quaint hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

Because we were arriving by train, we wanted a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the station. We got that... and more!

Yes, the decor is somewhat dated - orange and brown in the bedrooms and pale blue lustre bathroom fittings - but it all adds to the uniqueness of the place. In addition, naming each room after musical compositions (all ballets?) (1st floor), composers (2nd floor), dances (3rd floor) and sol-fa notes (4th floor) showed creativity and emphasised the music theme.

I read on a previous review that twin rooms may have more space than a double, so that's what we booked. And it was so! (We had a double for one night, later in the week.) Very comfortable beds and space to walk around.

Eveline at the front desk was an absolute gem! When we had trouble with our hire car, she went out of her way to understand my broken French and sympathise. She rang, Googled and reassured us. We felt as if someone cared! :)

Other front desk staff were able to help with a town map and directions to a laundromat. They greeted us by name as we passed the desk each day and provided a late night cup of tea and coffee (for a small charge) with cheerful good humour.

A breakfast area was set up on one side of the large lobby / lounge area. There was a good choice of cold food and some hot on offer - self-serve for 14 euros each. The lounge part of the lobby contained easy chairs and games - perhaps more suited to folk on bus tours who wanted to relax and get to know each other. In our 4 nights there, we saw evidence of two tour groups, but were not at all inconvenienced by the increase in guest numbers.

There is a form on the desk in the room asking guests to tell management if anything needs repairing. I left ours, stating that the lamp didn't work. On our return later that day, a note had been left with our key saying that the lamp did work, but the main light switch inside the door must be in the ON position. Prompt attention, indeed!

In short, it was a pleasure to stay at the Quality Hotel Harmonie and we unreservedly recommend it!

“Just OK...”

So you will probably stay here if cheap and close to the train station is important to you - just like it was for me. Being able to arrive from the train and just roll your luggage to the hotel is a plus but probably the only plus. Also Grand Hotel and Holiday Inn are even closer if that is your strategy.

I didn's eat breakfast or use any servicess. It was nice enough nothing special. The room was large but somehow we kept bumping into each other. The bathroom was not laid out very well especially.

It's not close to restaurants or shopping if you are looking for out the the door life - but everything in the city is within a half hour walk and very easy to find.

For 70 euros a night it was my cheapest option and that is why i chose it and i felt i got what i paid for and nothing more. Basically it didn't leave any warm feelings that would entice me to recommend this or return to it.

“Very close to train station - Amazing breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2009

I chose this hotel due to its 5 minute walking distance from the train station - having caught a TGV from paris and staying in Tours as a base for self driving the Loire.

This hotel is great. The buffet breakfast was the best i had in France (& i stayed in 5 other hotels with breakfasts included) - it has a huge range of food & drinks & most importantly it's fresh!

The room was also great - good size, clean & surprisingly very quiet given its central location.

Great value for 95 Euro!

This is highly recommended if you are staying in Tours!!
