We actually booked this place from the Office du Tourisme in Tours who did not tell us how to get there by bike. There was actually a pretty easy way using the bicycle path, but neither the Office nor the Chateau itself told us about it, which is pretty annoying. I actually called from the highway, to the Chateau and explained where we were (yes, in the middle of the highway!) and we were told to continue on the highway and take this other road (up a hill). However, when we left the next day, we took a very bikeable path (even if going upward), from the Chateau which joined the bike path!!!!!! Please explain this to me -- because, sorry, I dont understand it.
The Chateau itself and its grounds are attractive, don't get me wrong. But we had already stayed in 2 other Chateaux along the way and frankly this did not even come close in terms of value for money. The rooms were small, completely renovated, comfortable enough, but were undistinguished. No ambiance, and I believe if one is staying at a Chateau that is what one looks for. We were shown a bigger room, but it also had no ambiance, richly decorated though it was. This place was more in the way of a hotel than a Chateau, especially when comparing it to the others we stayed at, which had a really family ambiance, we felt we were staying at someone's personal home; in fact, in one of them the owners actually greet you. This had none of that. It was impersonal. All of which to say, it was nothing special and I wouldn't go back, I'd rather stay in town and have the choice to eat at the many good restaurants in Tours rather than be stuck in the rather pretentious and definitely overpriced dining room at the Chateau. It is way out and far from everything. A bust.
